Position Title: Accounting & HR Associate

Reports To: Controller and Manager of Administration

Department: Finance/HR

Location: New York City Office – Midtown

Position Summary

The Accounting & HR Associate supports the Finance Department (50%) and the Human Resources Department (50%) in various accounting and administrative duties.

Accounting Related Responsibilities & Duties

Assist the Finance Department with accounting-related tasks, including:

Maintaining general ledger accounts and database
Processing payroll and 403(b) contributions; maintaining employee time and attendance records through online time keeping program
Maintaining vendor files and inputting of payables
Reconciling bank accounts
Preparing special reports and assisting on special projects
Maintaining accounting controls by following policies and procedures
Assisting in year-end audit

HR Related Responsibilities & Duties

Assist Manager of Administration and CFO with Human Resources administrative tasks including:

Maintaining personnel and benefits records and supporting benefits administration
Ensuring employee records are correctly entered and updated in online payroll system
Maintaining benefits calendar and ensuring compliance with all filing and notice requirements
Assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of new employees
Assisting with annual performance review process and updating compensation tracking systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree in a business-related field preferred
2+ years accounting experience required; HR-related experience a plus
Hands on experience with on-line payroll system
Detail oriented, efficient, organized and professional
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Able to deal with difficult and sensitive issues with a high level of confidentiality
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel

Physical Requirements

Frequently sits for long periods of time
Frequently speaks, reads, writes and uses a computer keyboard
May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, bending, moving files
