Life insurance offered in the United States is issued by Zurich American Life Insurance Company, an Illinois domestic life insurance company with offices in Schaumburg, Illinois and New York City. Zurich Insurance Group is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Audit Director to join its world class Group Audit team and help build an audit team in New York City to primarily service Zurich''s growing life insurance operations. The AVP will be responsible for helping to build the New York City team as well as the development and delivery of a high quality audit plan to senior management, the C-Suite and various Audit Committees. Group Audit is responsible for performing audits over the whole of Zurich''s operations in North America- including its life insurance, its property and casualty insurance, and portions of its investment operations. The audits are operational, strategic and financial in nature. The AVP plays a key role in shaping and focusing the audit on the identified risks as well as leading and executing the audit including delivering the final report to our business partners and to the C-Suite. There are opportunities for this person to participate in and lead audits being executed simultaneously across the globe and may interact with team members throughout Europe (including Switzerland, the UK and Germany) as well as Latin America (including Brazil, Chile and Argentina), Asia Pacific (including Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan) and the Schaumburg, IL based audit team. The AVP will have responsibility to help build and manage the local team in New York, develop the local audit plans, develop and lead internal training programs and develop/deliver C-Suite and Audit Committee communications and presentations. The primary responsibility will be to focus will be on Zurich''s life insurance operations, but there will also be responsibility over other Zurich operations based in New York including certain pieces of the property and casualty operations and portions of the investment operations and the Centrally Managed Business unit. Job Qualifications Bachelors degree required. 10 or more years of audit or related experience required. Life insurance industry experience preferred. Proven ability to interact and work with the C-Suite required. Strong written and oral communication skills preferred. CIA, CPA, FLMI, CISA, MBA or equivalent preferred. Public accounting experience preferred. Abilty to travel 15-25% required.
