ArtsPool, a cooperative service organization providing radically affordable nonprofit financial management, workforce administration, and compliance, seeks a qualified individual to support a growing member base of nonprofit arts organizations. Startup meets social venture, the ArtsPool model is a unique, alternative solution to the lack of staffing capacity in nonprofits. ArtsPool is seeking a Bookkeeper and a Workforce Administrator to join our small, dedicated, growing team in our bright and colorful office in Brooklyn.

**Bookkeeper Position**
About You:
Your love of numbers and attention to detail is matched by a passion for helping nonprofits and artists to thrive. You enjoy learning new systems and tools, and thinking critically about ways of making them better. You love the arts and understand financial administration as a central part of making art happen. You are able to prioritize multiple projects and meet ongoing deadlines. You communicate clearly and patiently with clients and colleagues. You are rigorous by nature, but have a sense of perspective and humor when things get real.

Responsibilities Include:
- Bookkeeping tasks, such as maintaining accounts receivable and payable, daily account reconciliation, entering payroll, etc. including during member (client) onboarding and in preparation for audit;
- Participating in weekly and monthly systems analysis for building and improving ArtsPool infrastructure and service delivery;
- Working as part of a team and individually to ensure enhanced fiscal management that in turn allows members (clients) to focus on mission-based activity.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Significant experience working within non-profit and/or arts organizations preferred
- Ability to work with many types of members (clients) and personalities, ranging from small artist-run companies to mid-sized institutions
- Openness to and facility with web-based systems and software
- Bookkeeping experience a plus, though not required
- Experience with payroll processing, Xero Accounting and Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc) a plus, though not required
- Comfort and experience with reading and maintaining spreadsheets
- Independent self-motivated problem solver who can make suggestions and work with the team to develop and implement system improvements
- Ability to meet continuous deadlines and willing to work beyond scope when needed.

Starting salary for this position is $60,000 annually, with health and dental benefits

**Workforce Administrator Position**
About You:
You love details, rules, and regulations, but you use your powers for good. You’re as excited about payroll, insurance, and labor regulations as you are about helping nonprofits and artists to thrive. You have some experience running payroll, processing timesheets, and managing deductions. You are open to learning new systems and tools. You love the arts and understand operations as a critical part of making art happen. You are able to prioritize multiple projects and meet ongoing deadlines. You communicate clearly and patiently with clients and colleagues. You enjoy doing pivotal work as part of a larger system, making things easier for those you serve through efficiency and clarity. You are rigorous by nature but have a sense of perspective and humor when things get real.

Responsibilities Include:
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding process for member employees including offer/termination letters, benefits coordination, status tracking, etc., and reporting of new hires to New York State
- Maintain payroll systems and employee records for member companies
- Process payroll for member companies, in collaboration with others on the ArtsPool team
- Assist members in reports for statutory workforce insurance (i.e. Unemployment, Disability, and Workers' Compensation coverages)
- Assist in preparation of annual workforce tax materials for employees (W-2s) and contractors (1099s)
- Provide payroll reports and related data for annual audits and tax returns, as requested by member auditors, insurance carriers, and occasionally the Department of Labor
- Undertake research as assigned, contacting government agencies, benefits vendors, etc. for confirmation of implementation of details impacting payroll
- Participate on the workforce team to improve service delivery systems design

- Interest in learning more about labor practices and workforce administration procedures
- Openness to and facility with web-based systems and software
- Comfort and experience with developing and maintaining complex spreadsheets
- Experience with nonprofits and/or the arts a plus
- Direct experience with payroll processing and related tax reporting a plus
- Experience with Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc) a plus
- Able to meet continuous deadlines and assignments, both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable communicating with various stakeholders, including members (clients) ranging from small organizations to larger institutions

Starting salary for this position is $60,000 annually, with health and dental benefits
