Job Description:

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer is a newly created position tasked with developing and executing Shatterproof’s major individual, corporate and foundation fundraising strategy.

A critical component of the CDO’s work involves working with a high profile Board of Directors, advising them on and supporting their efforts to secure and steward major gifts to expand Shatterproof’s ability to fund the organization’s mission.

In 2016, Shatterproof raised approximately $6M. Four years into Shatterproof’s inception, the organization is poised to raise over $7.5M in cash and $5M in donated goods and services in 2017.  This year’s total includes a successful gala that raised $700K with only $40K in expenses.

The CEO and board have high expectations that Shatterproof will continue to grow its fundraising as its education and advocacy efforts expand and as a national major gifts and institutional giving program is developed and implemented.

As part of developing awareness of the disease, bringing families together, and to develop a pipeline for support, Shatterproof has created a successful series of fundraising events that take place around the country. The grassroots events are managed by the Chief Marketing Officer who in turn will work closely with the Chief Development Officer in the creation of a donor pipeline that will build major individual and corporate giving.

The Shatterproof Challenge Rappel and The Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction 5K are bringing families together to share stories and shatter the stigma of substance abuse.

The Shatterproof Challenge Rappel

These unique events raise awareness of addiction as participants rappel down a building. In 2017, rappelling events were held in Dallas, Orange County, Los Angeles, Hartford, and in Fairfield County in October.

The Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction 5Ks

These 5K races will unite walkers and runners in support of those who have lost a loved one to addiction while celebrating those who are living in recovery. The 5Ks will take place in New York, Washington, DC, Boston, Atlanta, and Kansas City.  Learn more about the 5K: Rise Up.
