The Development Assistant provides administrative support for the Corporate Giving Department. The Development Assistant is responsible for maintaining the Raiser’s Edge database of corporate members, assisting the Corporate Giving team to prepare for corporate solicitations, and fulfilling corporate membership benefit packages. This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week.


• Update and maintain all corporate member and donor records in the Raiser’s Edge database;

• Generate corporate member employee mailing lists;

• Generate and edit membership renewal and gift acknowledgement letters and drafts, invoices, receipts and envelopes via mail merge from Raiser’s Edge;

• Prepare meeting materials for corporate solicitation visits including assembling information packets, creating profiles, and producing employee event participation reports;

• Respond to inquiries via corporate membership phone lines, email inboxes, providing member service/troubleshooting as necessary, while referring more complex inquiries to appropriate Japan Society staff;

• Assist team with fulfilling corporate member benefit obligations and requests including updating complimentary mailing lists, and producing and sending gallery passes;

• Maintain corporate member files;

• Work with database manager to ensure integrity of Corporate Giving data, including merging duplicate records.


• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one to two years administrative experience, preferably in development department at nonprofit organization;
• Experience with data entry and database processing required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar database preferred;
• Must be very detail-oriented, well organized, and a self-starter;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential;
• Interest in fundraising;
• Knowledge of Japanese culture a plus.
