TITLE: Human Resources Intern

General Summary

Marble Church seeks a professional self-starter with a sharp attention to detail for an educational opportunity to serve, primarily, in the area of research for the Human Resources Manager. This may include using outside resources (i.e. SHRM) to investigate HR best practices, drafting policies and procedures, and working in consort with the HR Manager to translate HR best practices for the church in an effort to implement meaningful organizational change. This individual must have a strong sensitivity toward maintaining confidential information, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be willing to take initiative towards solving problems from inception through conclusion whilst managing other short-term projects as they arise. A minimum commitment of two months is required. This position will require approximately 10-15 hours/week.

While unpaid, this is a wonderful opportunity for a recent grad or current student to learn more about the field while gaining invaluable experience for your resume. You will have the chance to work and learn in a supportive environment that will challenge you to ask questions and grow in your knowledge of the field. As you learn more about the different areas of HR, you will learn the lingo of the field which will allow you to speak confidently in interviews and networking opportunities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Research and create initial drafts on organization policies, Human Resources procedures, and managerial best practices, as assigned by the Human Resources Manager
Research and prepare draft training modules for managers and staff, as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
As permissions for access allow, assist Human Resources Manager in increasing full usage of ADP technologies at the Human Resources and individual employee levels, specifically in the areas of Paid Time off and the recruitment module.
Assist Human Resources Manager in organizing the results of an internal HR audit; use these results to propose steps to bring the organization into greater compliance.
Minor administrative assistance on occasion, to educate on the scope of the Human Resource field and assist in drafting proposals to streamline processes.
Other special projects, as assigned.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) preferred, at a minimum currently enrolled as a junior in a four-year Bachelor's program.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Ability to work independently and as a member of group.
Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Strong interest in a career in Human Resources and an eagerness to learn more about the field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience using Adobe Acrobat.
