Mackin Projects hires talented individuals for mid-career and blue chip artists, galleries and institutions. At this time, we are looking to fill several positions for several projects over the next 30 days.

SEEKING:
I. Paid internship as an Administrative Assistant in New York City and/or New Haven for an arts incubator scheduled to open its doors in Fall of 2018. https: // www. postmastersproject. com/
2. Part-time or Full-time experienced Arts Administrative position in New York or New Haven for an arts incubator scheduled to open its doors in Fall of 2018.
3. Experienced Studio Manager for a critically acclaimed, multidisciplinary artist in painting, large-scale murals, photography, video and sculpture located in Brooklyn, NY.

PAID INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Looking for a commitment of 16-24 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months. Times and days of the week are 2-3 days, M-F from 10-6pm. The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate student of studio art, art education, art history, art administration, or curatorial studies with excellent communication skills, strong Apple-based computer knowledge, and ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously. Skilled writers are preferred.

EXPERIENCED ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS:
Looking for a commitment of 24-40 hours per week. Times and days of the week are 3-5 days, M-F from 10-6pm. The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate student of studio art, art education, art history, art administration, or curatorial studies with excellent communication skills, skilled writers are preferred. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least eighteen months prior experience relevant to the position. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Gmail, and facility with Internet research. Knowledge of and interest in contemporary and modern art. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Must work well under pressure, and possess high levels of tact and diplomacy.

REPSPONSIBILITIES FOR BOTH:
Duties include general day-to-day administrative tasks, and special projects to include: scheduling meetings, curriculum research, production research, taking notes at meetings, filing, shipping, running errands, etc., as well as, assisting with press releases, social media, communication with fabricators and other art businesses alike. Daily operations require contact with partners, galleries, institutions, collectors, curators and city and state employees. This position will provide excellent exposure to the inner workings of a fast-paced multidisciplinary start-up art incubator.

STUDIO MANAGER:
Seeking a self-motivated studio manager who will be responsible for being the main liaison between the artist and the gallery, studio staff, freelancers, curators, fabricators, press and more. The Studio Manager is not only the main studio contact overseeing day-to-day operations, but will also be required to be a project manager capable of seeing artworks through the process of production and installation, from start to finish.

Individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor. The candidate with proven experience in a contemporary artist’s studio, a contemporary art gallery or museum is preferred, and the ideal candidate will have a degree in the following: fine art, art administration, curatorial studies, or similar with previous experience managing a professional artist’s studio for 2-3 years. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Must work well under pressure, and possess high levels of tact and diplomacy.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Superbly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills.
- Possess a business-minded approach to a fine art studio.
- Leadership and comprehension skills necessary to work closely with artist, respecting artist’s schedule, and supporting artist’s priorities and vision.
- Ability to write artist statements, press releases, and/or editing media communications to/from galleries and institutions.
- Proficiency with MacOS X, Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, FileMaker Pro, Artbase, and Quickbooks.
- Hardware and software troubleshooting skills with Apple equipment and accessories necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Work directly with the artist to ensure open communication of overall studio and production to determine schedules and materials needed.
- Liaise between galleries, museums, collectors, and corporations in the best interest of the artist in a timely fashion.
- Create and manage budgets, income & expenditures. Track & report transactions and employee hours, and work directly with bookkeeper and accountant.
- Coordinate and supervise pickups and deliveries of works.
- Supervise and maintain security of digital archive: maintaining secure backups, transfers & overall technological upkeep of the studio.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for artist and companion/s, and be available to occasionally travel with the artist for lectures, exhibitions, and special projects.
- Recruit and supervise additional assistants or interns.
- Additional studio tasks include: purchasing office supplies, opening & sorting mail, running errands, maintaining studio cleanliness, scanning and faxing, fielding phone calls, scheduling messenger pick ups and deliveries, and other duties as needed.

STUDIO HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday-Friday 10-6pm and must be able to work occasional evenings or weekends for special projects, exhibitions, and for travel. Starting salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
