Description

Public Square Films is an NYC-based production company known for its Oscar-nominated, Peabody Award-winning documentary HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE (2012). As PSF delves into the post-production stage of its next documentary feature SYLVIA & MARSHA, the team is excited to bring on several new interns for Fall 2016.

On its face, SYLVIA & MARSHA is an investigation into the death of legendary trans-rights activist Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson; a demand for justice in a case long left cold. At its heart, it is a project to exhume a revolutionary cultural history: one that not only laid the foundation for trans-rights today, but was also instrumental in the LGBTQ movement as whole. Shedding light on the activism of legendary trans women Marsha P. Johnson, and Sylvia Rivera, SYLVIA & MARSHA connects these extraordinary women’s lives to the work of contemporary trans activists of color, and to our collective civil rights history.

Applicants should be available to come and work in our Flatiron office 2-3 days a week, late-August through December 2016. A stipend of $15/day will be provided, to cover travel and lunch expenses.

Responsibilities include:
- Archival research
- Logging archival footage
- Assisting the Archival Producer with footage management
- Production Assistant work on remaining shoot days
- Clerical Tasks

Public Square Films is proud to be an affirmative action/equal opportunities company. Trans, queer, lesbian, gay or bisexual PoC are particularly urged to apply.
