Many of the most important 19th-Century French Impressionists portrayed Parisian ballet dancers in their art. The most notable Impressionist master whose art included dancers was Edgar Degas. Jean-Louis Forain was another Impressionist who based works on ballet dancers. (In fact it was Forain's friend Degas who introduced him to the Parisian ballet scene.)

J D Smith Fine Art is currently offering four works on this classic theme of French Impressionism. An original etching by Degas titled, Dancers in the Wings, shows dancers staged behind scenery, poised to make their appearance on stage at the right moment. Another original etching, this one by Forain and titled Dancers in Their Dressing Room, shows dancers putting their costumes on in preparation for a performance.

Two original watercolor paintings by Forain also show dancers at the ballet. The first is titled Young Dancer, which shows a young dancer leaning against the wall a the corner, likely a rehearsal room. The second watercolor is titled Dancer and Her Dresser. It shows a dancer in the foreground in the final stages of preparing for a performance, with an older woman helping her in the background. See these wonderful works now at: http://www.jdsmithfineart.com/ballet_dancers_french_impressionism.

1999 was the first year the mint issued the State Quarter Silver Proof Set. First year of issue silver proof sets are highly sought after by collectors and sets with U.S. Mint design errors are rare. I've never seen a 1999 Silver Proof Set with an error coin. You'll own something unique in your collection. I've read that the mint doesn't like error coins to be released to the public and go to great lengths to avoid it happening. Other collectors may envy you.

Proof coins are minted especially for collectors. They are the highest quality, uncirculated condition of coins you can own and come in a protective casing. They have a mirror-like finish that rivals the finest jewelry and are not individually circulated among the general public.

The Delaware quarter in this set has a design error. The process used to proof the obverse (front surface) of the coin did not cover the entire front surface of the coin like the other quarters in the set. As you can see in the picture, it has a streak across the front of it. When I noticed the error on the Delaware quarter when I received the set from the mint, I was tempted to send it back, since they had a return privilege, but I emailed a coin dealer and asked his opinion. He told me it was an error and suggested that I keep it.

I called to have the error coin graded but they said they would have to take all the coins out of the two original cases and grade them individually or break up the quarter set to get to the Delaware quarter.

I preferred to keep the set in the Original Condition I received it in when I bought it from the mint. You'll receive it in the Original Mint Packaging I received it in.

In the first case you'll receive four coins minted in 1999: a Proof 90% silver Kennedy half dollar, a Proof 90% silver dime, a Proof Jefferson nickel, and a Proof Lincoln penny.

In the second case you'll receive five Proof 90% silver quarters: Georgia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the Delaware error quarter. The 1999 set is available for $169.

With your 2000 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set, you'll own a 90% silver Kennedy half dollar, a 90% silver dime, five 90% silver quarters, a penny, a nickel, and the First Year Issue of the Sacagawea dollar. In the second case you'll receive five Proof 90% silver quarters: Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia. Again, all coins are in proof condition which is the finest/highest uncirculated condition of a coin that you can own. The 2000 silver set is available for $59.

For many years the 2001 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set has been in high demand coming second only to the 1999 Silver Proof Set which carries the highest demand premium of the silver statehood quarter proof sets. Your 2001 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set contains a 90% silver Kennedy half dollar, a 90% silver dime, a penny, a nickel, and a Sacagawea dollar. In the second case you'll receive five Proof 90% silver quarters: New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Kentucky.

Again, all coins are in proof condition. The 2001 set is available for $69.

I also have a 1999 U.S. Mint Proof set.

1999 was the first year the U.S. Mint issued the State Quarter Proof Set. Again, first year of issue proof sets are highly sought after by coin collectors. You'll own a set that people want to own. You’ll receive the first five cameo proof Statehood Quarters: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut. It also includes a proof: Kennedy halve dollar, dime, nickel, and penny. The 1999 Proof set is available alone for $19.

I also have a 2007 U.S. Mint Presidential Dollar Coin Proof Set.

2007 was the first year the mint issued the Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set. With this set, you’ll own four cameo proof $1 coins featuring: George Washington, John Adams,
Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. You can collect and enjoy them, give them as holiday or birthday gifts, or pass them down to your children or grandchildren.
The 2007 Presidential Proof set is available for $15.

Call or email me now, leave your number if I'm not available, and make these collector's items yours today!

Free bonus: Take all five sets for $329 and I'll also throw in an attractive Navy Blue, Whitman Deluxe U.S. Mint Proof Set Storage Box, with silver engraving, and
Velvet Interior to protect your valuable collection.

This piece, “Village in the Brebant”, is an original oil on panel painting by Belgian artist Maurice de Meyer (also known as Maurice de Mayer). De Meyer was a well known Impressionist painter who worked with Alfred Bastien and Henri Logelain, also members of the Belgian school. The painting shows a village scene with a village church on an overcast day. Brebant is a region around Brussels and is now divided into more than one province. The artist’s signature appears in red in the lower right. Image size is 26 inches H x 23 inches W (66 cm x 58.4 cm). Mounted in a new, antiqued, rustic looking framed. Framed size is 30 inches H x 28 inches W (119 cm x 76 cm). See closeup photos and details at: http://www.jdsmithfineart.com.
