Casting Male Actor for EIGHT SECONDS - part of Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival

Seeking union or non-union male actor, 40s-50s, for EIGHT SECONDS, a new 10 minute play chosen as part of the Samuel French OOB Festival.

EIGHT SECONDS is a two character play inspired by the real life story of a young Canadian cowboy who is fatally injured in a rodeo competition.

Seeking the role of JACK (40s-50s), a life-long cowboy and father to BENNY.

Auditions: Thursday, July 2nd, 6pm-8pm & Tuesday, July 7th, 6pm-8pm by appointment (Manhattan location TBD) Sides will be provided.

July 19th - 21st evenings
August 3rd - 5th evenings

About the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival:
The Samuel French OOB Festival runs Aug 4-9 at Classic Stage Company. There are 30 plays chosen that are performed Mon-Fri that week, with 7-8 shows shows a night. Each night has a different panel of judges pulled from industry professionals (Artistic Directors, agents, playwrights, etc). At the end of each session, the judges deliberate and 1 to 3 plays are selected to move on to the Festival Finals.

Finals take places on the Saturday of the Festival Week (Aug. 8). During the Finals, the Festival staff watch the final ten to twelve plays and select six authors to be published by Samuel French. Sunday acts as a showcase of all the winners, and Samuel French invites many industry professional to attend.

The Broadway Dance Lab (BDL) is seeking highly trained, stylistically versatile male and female dancers for a two-month contract. Ten dancers will be hired to work with a variety of choreographers in a workshop environment culminating with a presentation. Cycle Three choreographers will include Josh Prince, Camille A. Brown and Marcelo Gomes, among others. Dancers will work an average of 20 hours/week for eight consecutive weeks, excluding presentation.

The TCTC internship includes free workshops, classes, and the opportunity to learn about both acting and theatre production. Come audition for Girl Be Heard’s first EVER political theatre summer intensive! During 3 sessions of writing, workshopping and guerrilla style street performance, participants in these FREE intensives will collaborate with each other, staff, and special guests to make theatre around pressing social justice issues affecting women and girls across the world.

Henry: An everyman still working on finding his path in life. Earnest, well-meaning. Must get audience to identify with him and root for him. Strong tenor.

Katrina: Someone with a strong core who has been beaten down by life circumstances. Strong, powerful Belt voice and presence.

Cole: Charismatic, sincere, magnetic. Audience must be drawn to him and compelled. Is he all that he seems? What’s going on below the surface? Tenor.

Eliot: The comedian. Doesn’t take too much seriously, but genuinely values Henry’s friendship. Must be truly funny. Tenor.

Rose: Exotic, attractive, a mystery – and perhaps crazy. We don’t know what’s going on in her mind at any particular time. She must deliver subtext/character development not necessarily on the page. Belt.

Rachel: A nurse, easy-going, pleasant without being incredibly invested in her patients.
Sweet belt voice.

All characters are between mid 20's/mid 30's.

Actors sought for “A Life TBD”, an experimental play in three parts, told in three different styles by three different directors.

In a love story unlike any other, as an unlucky Mark fights his inner demons, and the artistic Maggie struggles with her own sanity, can these once lovers find each other again in the face of death and uncertainty?

Rehearsals will be mostly evenings and weekends. There will be five performances between August 14th and 30th.
