Judith Clurman’s Essential Voices USA (EVUSA) will hold auditions for their singers for their 2015-2016 season on August 23, 2015.

Hailed as one of New York’s premiere ensembles, EVUSA will perform with the New York Pops in four Carnegie Hall Subscription series performances this fall, including the October "My Favorite Things: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein" performance with soloists Sierra Boggess and Steven Pasquale, and December's "It's Christmas Time In The City" holiday concert with Stephanie J. Block and Brian d'Arcy James. In the spring, the group will sing in a Composer Speaks performance at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music.

A holiday sing-along and recording project will also be scheduled.

Email to schedule an audition.
Singers should prepare a classical song or aria & a musical theater selection.
You will be asked to sight read at the audition.

Judith Clurman’s Essential Voices USA (EVUSA) is widely regarded as one of New York’s preeminent choral ensembles. It comprises a highly talented roster of both seasoned professionals and auditioned volunteers. Within this group, Clurman has created a dynamic choral model in which the size of the ensemble is dictated by the unique needs of each project. EVUSA performs regularly on the Carnegie Hall subscription series with the New York Pops and at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. The ensemble was in residence with National Public Radio during the month of February 2011. That same year, the ensemble launched “The Composer Speaks,” a popular series of informal concerts in workshop format designed to encourage dialogue with composers and lyricists and moderated by Judith. EVUSA performed on the critically acclaimed Sono Luminus CDs: Celebrating the American Spirit featuring Kelli O’Hara and Ron Raines, and on Cherished Moments: Songs of the Jewish Spirit. In 2011 and 2012, EVUSA “rocked the rock” on NBC’s national broadcasts of the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting. A highlight of the 2012–2013 season was EVUSA’s participation in the Presidential Inaugural activities, including a sing-along of the “Sing Out, Mr. President” song cycle at the “Church of the Presidents” in Washington, D.C. The ensemble’s CD Celebrating the American Spirit was also featured on NPR on Inauguration Day 2013. EVUSA sang numerous tracks for Macy’s 2014 Fireworks broadcast on NBC television along with Idina Menzel and the Diva Jazz Orchestra. This Christmas, EVUSA will release Holiday Harmonies: Songs of Christmas with mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, soprano Maureen McKay, pianist Ted Firth, harpist Stacey Shames. The CD features music by award-winning composers Jennifer Higdon and Nico Muhly, and holiday arrangements by Judith Clurman, Tedd Firth, and David Chase.

Major Website Seeking 40-somethings Who Feel A Generational Divide With Their Parents

Are you in your 40s and think you have it a lot harder than your parents did at your age? Are you on your 5th or 6th career while your father retired from the same place he started? Do you worry that you are in no way prepared for a retirement like your parents? Have you suffered a medical crisis that your parents can’t even contemplate?

Did the recession kick you in the pants so that you worry that you won’t ever be able to make up the ground? A major website would like to tell your story.
Ideally, you and your parents are both able to be interviewed — at a minimum we require pictures of your mom and/or dad at your age so we can compare and contrast.

You must live within 2 hours of New York City and be willing to let us interview you at your home or your parents’ home.
We have funds to be able to pay a little for your time. Plus, everyone involved will respect your time and situation.

This is a great opportunity to get the word out about your life and — in the process — maybe help others struggling with the same concerns.

Please send a picture of yourself and email describing your situation to: Trisha at

Casting must be done by July 10, so please email quickly.

POOR PEOPLE will be presented at The Kraine Theatre as part of the New York International Fringe Festival 2015.

POOR PEOPLE is a free stage adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s epistolary novel and first masterpiece, Poor Folk. Poor People is set in St. Petersburg in 1846. The play tells the story of Makar Devushkin, a middle-aged clerk, who despite his poverty remains a human with an endearingly bumbling, optimistic outlook and humor. Makar’s existence is transformed when Varvara Dobroselova, a young seamstress and Makar’s distant relation, enters his life. The two develop a platonic relationship, which they use as a shield when forced to face unscrupulous relatives, unwelcomed sexual advances, contempt at work, sickness, and hard labor. "Poor People" celebrates the resilience of the human spirit when circumstances seem insurmountable. "Poor People" is the only Dostoyevsky piece in FringeNYC 2015; and it is an innovative blend of physical theatre and scripted text.

Seeking the following role only:

(Lead) A poor clerk in his 40s. Any ethnicity. Unattractive, run down appearance; uneducated, yet extremely likable and kindhearted; Russian Don Quixote; an idealist and a dreamer; lives for the sake of young and gentle Varvara, his relation, whom he adores endlessly. Looking for an actor with a vast emotional range, ability to handle tragicomedy and dense text, and who moves well.

Rehearsals @Spaceworks in LIC and Williamsburg: July 10 - August 13: Mon, Wed: 6-10pm, Fri: 10-2pm; Sat, Sun: 10-4pm Performance dates: 8/16/15 3:45pm; 8/20/15 4:45pm; 8/24/15 7:00pm; 8/27/15 7:00pm; 8/29/15 5:30pm with possible extension in September
