Associate Story Editor Job Description The ABC News Magazines/Story Development Department is seeking an Associate Story Editor. Reporting to the Sr. Producer, individual has previous news and/or entertainment booking experience, confident on the phone and in the field, booking not only for the news magazines but specials and special events. Must have strong editorial judgment and expected to offer targeted story pitches for 20/20 format and generate original content for segments and concept hours. Must be well read, a news \"junkie\", with a passion for news and pop culture. Responsibilities .Develop and pitch original story content; offer targeted story pitches for 20/20 format and out of the box ideas .Book newsmakers and story interviews for the shows and for breaking news events .Read news papers, magazines, online and off-beat content for story ideas .Must be on top of breaking news, trending stories and pop culture .Must be available for frequent travel .Write for dot.com and work on network synergy projects across platforms Basic Qualifications # Years Work Experience: 2 to 3 Non-Technical Skills: Excellent booking, writing and communication skills, strong editorial judgment, Avid News Reader, Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications # Years Work Experience: 3 Non-Technical Skills: Excellent booking, writing and communication skills, strong editorial judgment, Avid News Reader, Microsoft Office; familiarity with digital shooting and editing a plus; live news room booking highly desirable.
