Nielsen Music is a division that works with music sales, airplay tracking, and custom analytics, serving a multitude of different companies with its valuable services. We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join the Nielsen Music team for Spring 2013 as a Music Operations Intern. Primary responsibilities include: * Utilization of SoundScan and Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), two industry staple services that track music sales and airplay to create reports that are valuable for current and potential clients * Developing a working understanding of our analytics products * Establishing and documenting processes to review and standardize metadata as we link our data assets together * Testing of new applications and tools as part of the product development cycle * Assist the SVP of Operations for Nielsen Entertainment on a variety of day-to-day operational tasks * General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook * Knowledge of Access and/or Transact SQL helpful * Interest in the music and entertainment industry * Strong record of academic achievement (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA) * Minimum of two years of study in new media, marketing, business, social sciences, mathematics, statistics or a related course of study * Quantitative aptitude * Demonstrated skill in project management * Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving * Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills * Initiative, creativity and a passion to deliver results that make a difference to our clients * Ability to work independently as well as within a team
