Title: Product News Editor Location: US-NY-New York Job Number:_27658 PURPOSE The Product News Editor is responsible for ENR's ongoing product, materials and equipment coverage, including launching and maintaining a new electronic newsletter in that sector in 2013. The position will collaborate with Sweets to develop a Sweets-sourced product page in ENR. The Product News Editor will also produce other electronic newsletters and daily news alerts. This person acts as a content curator and QA/QC editor, editing print-to-web and web-to-web content to ensure that it meets ENR's strict quality guidelines as it flows to the Teamsite CMS, ENR.com and other electronic venues, such as smartphone and tablet apps. Qualifications: ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 40% Cover, report and write news stories about products, equipment and materials 25% Work with news editors to edit and produce ENR Daily News Alerts and other e-letters 15% Edit and troubleshoot content as it flows to the web via Teamsite 10% Help launch, edit and produce an e-newsletter about products and equipment 10% Assist in the production of content in Teamsite CMS to enable current and new apps OTHER REQUIRED ACCOUNTABILITIES . Collaborate with Sweets to produce regular Sweets-sourced page of building product news in ENR . Work with technology team to edit and produce FutureTech newsletter . Report and write breaking news on other beats as needed . Attend meetings with product and equipment vendors on or off site as needed . Attend trade shows and conferences as needed to learn about new products and trends . Assist web team as Teamsite enhancements are made and new apps roll out to ensure consistent quality and user experience KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE . Hold a college degree in a journalism-related field or equivalent . Familiarity with electronic newsletters and electronic news content aggregation . Demonstrated ability to report accurate, hard-hitting business news and technical content . Can use the Internet and Web publishing tools with ease, basic proficiency in HTML . Fluent in social media tools and other Web 2.0 new media technology . Comfortable working with photography and video for publication in print and online . Be punctual and able to meet all production deadlines. COMPLEXITY . Volume: Evaluate hundreds of press releases per month and select the most valuable for ENR . Ethics: Attend meetings with customers who may be both editorial sources and advertisers . Digital Savvy: Serve as the team's e-newsletter expert and produce multiple ongoing newsletters . Problem Solving: Identify paths to troubleshoot problems as content flows into Teamsite CMS . Quality: Create solutions to improve readers' e-newsletter and digital content experience .
