Key Responsibilities: * Reporting to the hard news desk to assist with updating coverage and \"swarming\" on breaking news. This includes contributing research to sidebars, producing photo galleries and tracking down relevant video * Working in our content management system to publish stories from CBS broadcast sources and news wires, with an eye toward writing good headlines and subheads; Also, helping to select photos and added elements to create a fully packaged story for readers * Contributing the occasional self-written and reported news item * Monitoring of trends, competitor sites and other sources to report to editors several times daily on stories that would be of interest to our audience * Formulating a list of story ideas for an original story to be reported and written during the course of the internship, with a weekly meeting to touch base on where the work stands in relation to a set deadline. * Monitoring live feeds to assist in running webcasts and flagging raw video * Editing, captioning and posting video from feeds and other source material Required Skills/Experience * Superior written and verbal communication skills * Currently working towards a degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related. * Intern candidates must be currently enrolled in college/university with at least one semester to go after completion of the internship Job Status Intern/Co-op
