Title: Video Editor (New York) Location: NY-New York Job summary The Video Editor is responsible for performing complex video editing projects. They are responsible, that through design, planning and video production the communication is delivered with the highest quality level. A secondary role is assisting the Senior Video Editor with managing the production facility. A basic understanding of Publishing Technology & Implementation (PTI) specialties including audio, video, and webcasting is expected as the incumbent will work with others in Americas Communication & Marketing (ACM) on the best use, combination, and repurposing of each medium to meet strategic objectives. Responsibilities * Consult with the client and/orProducerto understand their needs, including the nature of the video, the audience and the intended message in order to complete the deliverable. * Review the video footage, working with theProducerto identify footage to use within the edit; this review process includes offering creative judgment and suggestions to the client or Producer * Use non-linear video-editing processes and equipment to put the video in a final format, suitable for audience viewing * Review the final video with the customer, making final edit additions and changes as necessary * Complete the edit session within the client's budgeted time * Provide on-site video editing and technical services for high-profile, large-scale national meetings and conferences; this involves being very familiar with the video footage to be used for the meeting * Identify and recommend new audio/video technologies by keeping abreast of developing technology * Establish best practices on effective creative and technical video editing techniques * Train other PTI staffon A/V equipment, editing systems and best practices * Recommend changes and replacement of obsolete and outmoded practices and equipment to the Senior Video Editor. * Maintain, install, and recommend repair of A/V equipment, electronic recording, duplication, encoding and distribution systems * Works withSenior Video Editorto design and install equipment needed to meet production requirements and to improve methods of project production * Complete post production edit reports and databases to reflect work performed and make certain that all edit master tapes and elements are properly labeled * Archive all editing project files to removable storage devices * Function in any production capacity requested by supervisor when not involved in an edit session or when production staffing is short-handed, including the following: * audio/video recording * animations and video graphics * DVD authoring * podcast publishing * video publishing for on-demand streaming * webcast encoding * Identify, research, and recommend improvements to PTI procedures and technologies * Assist with operation of basic camera equipment, lighting, and audio. * Comply in a timely manner with firm, ACM, and PTI standards and procedures including, but not limited to, visual identity (branding), approvals (SCORE), project management, billing, and time tracking * Make edit decisions that achieve the business objectives, without detailed direction by the Producer or client. * Rapidly solve problems and make decisions during the production of live events * Recognize potential issues and make decisions throughout a project that balance the need to meet a deadline and still meet the original requirements of the project * Identify opportunities for repurposing content for additional audiences or to add convenience for the consumption of the message by the target audience Knowledge and skills requirements * Strong project management, client service, team building and interpersonal communication skills. * Expert proficiency in AVID Media Composer * Proficiency inmanyof the following software applications * After Effects * Boris FX * Final Cut Pro * Sorenson Squeeze * Adobe Media Encoder * Photoshop * PowerPoint * Pro Tools / SoundForge or equivalent * Rapidly learn new technologies on a frequent basis and as part of a project * Ability to manage multiple tasks and work on more than one project at a time * Strong organizational skills are required to be able to work independently and meet tight deadlines * Ability to interact with senior executives * Positions at this level function independently and may work on high profile events or complex tasks. * Train colleagues in editing and audio/video communications through teaming and mentoring. * Receives general supervision and is competent to work independently within area of expertise. Review of workgenerally occurs at longer intervals. * Travel or an extended work day is required as needed to meet deadlines. Experience * A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience Education * Bachelor''s degree or equivalent work experience * Authorized Avid Media Composer introductory and advanced level training certification preferred
