Interactive Designer Job Description ABC News Digital seeks a motivated interactive designer to join their highly collaborative design team. Responsibilities The interactive designer will report to the Design Director and work closely with the Senior Designer, staff designers and developers to create immersive, cross-platform compatible interactive design for the ABC News audience. We're looking for a person with a passion for interactive development, visual storytelling, information design, typography, and a desire to solve problems in an innovative manner. This person will design and develop compelling, visually engaging online experiences that complement and enhance ABC News editorial content. The Interactive Designer will create and own designs and information architecture deliverables such as creative plans, comps, images, wireframes, site flow diagrams, navigation flows, and style guides. He/she will review and approve product development at design, prototype, development, and testing stages to ensure all design and information architecture requirements are implemented appropriately. Basic Qualifications - Mininum 3 years as an interactive designer creating digital solutions - Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop - Exceptional communication and presentation skills, work ethic and a desire to be in a breaking news environment - In-depth understanding of interactive design and development with a focus on cross-platform compatibility - Familiarity with the principles of web usability, accessibility and user experience - Detail-oriented with proficiency at managing multiple projects and competing deadlines - Experience working on large-scale, content-heavy sites - Ability to identify and implement process improvements to meet project & team needs - Ability to think & communicate clearly and effectively, contributing to all discussions and strategy during the entire design process, from concept through completion - Superior typography and design sensibility - Thorough understanding of brand identity principles and ability to apply brand consistency across multiple platforms - Must stay current with industry trends - Motion graphics experience a plus Preferred Qualifications - Understanding of print design principles a plus - Understanding of Flash, DHTML/CSS, HTML5 Actionscript, JavaScript, and XML - Experience designing for mobile platforms - Experience designing for a news agency, or publishing company specifcally lifestyle publications Preferred Education Bachelors degree in design or a related field Job Posting Industries Television Additional Information Business Overview Location: New York,NY Job Req: 80678BR The Walt Disney Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
