This is a Project position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3:5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment."
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for performing studies and analyses relating to the reliability of the Electric Transmission, Substation and Distribution Systems and their components. This position requires interfacing with PSEG Long Island Operations personnel and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to identify and assess reliability issues; identify the data and systems necessary to drive corrective actions; and to develop appropriate strategies and programs.
Responsibilities include developing and analyzing data to support and recommend changes to the capital and maintenance budgets associated with reliability improvement programs (i.e., Circuit Improvement Program, Distribution and Transmission Tree Trim Programs, Exit Feeder Program, Transmission and Substation Reliability Programs, etc.). Additionally, must use technical expertise in conjunction with working knowledge of the electric transmission, distribution and substation systems to:
:Provide innovative solutions to improve electric reliability.
:Identify, evaluate and implement systems to support the short and long term goals and objectives.
:Act as lead investigator for Significant System Event Investigations related to failures on the electric system.
:Oversee the continued implementation of data mining software programs.
:Develop and maintain multi:year component/equipment performance history to determine the effectiveness of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Program.
:Lead the development of asset strategies and policies as they relate to asset health and the risk register.
:Work closely with LI T and D Directors and Managers in order to maintain/improve overall system reliability.
Knowledge and Experience Required
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, preferably Electric Engineering, with relevant technical experience
Knowledge of the Electric T and D Systems, including electric outage management systems and EGIS is preferred.
Must be knowledgeable in using computer software packages such as PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc., to organize and assemble data into reports a
