Technical Director, UX Architect

Will create solutions for the entire company enterprise including media related asset management, financial and corporate systems, entertainment information management around planning, scheduling and delivery, B2B content systems and many others.

They have a large portfolio of custom developed Java applications and the wide variety of problems being solved allows Solution Architects to experience the full spectrum of technology problems (scaling, availability, security, complexity) and solutions (SOA, BPM, Spring, JPA, Cloud) all in a working environment that rivals any software startup in quality of work mixed with work/life balance.

As part of the Enterprise Architecture team, you’ll experience the best of what IT has to offer by helping craft the solutions for the large variety of problems described above. As a User Experience (UX) Technical Architect you will guide, define, design and co-build user interfaces for a wide range of internal and B2B applications. You will be responsible for both designing best-in-class user experiences (including interaction models and prototypes) and working with technical teams to build-out your designs. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to work well in a collaborative environment while translating business requirements into a user-focused solution. Senior-level experience with Front-end technologies and frameworks as well as leadership experience in guiding and mentoring development teams is a must.

Responsible for the overall user experience Architecture of IT business systems with a focus on ensuring user-centered design of content-rich applications while driving reuse and standardization across the organization

Develop a deep understanding of all users enterprise-wide with their application and information needs, including use-cases, interaction patterns and information paradigms

Define the presentation tier technology stack and approaches including UI design patterns, frameworks and integration

Define and maintain the roadmap for the suite of UI technologies used to develop custom apps

Serve as subject matter expert for UX as it relates to emerging web technology platforms including mobile devices and video

Work with other architects and team members to incorporate UX standards into project designs

Analyze business requirements and create user interfaces that efficiently meet those requirements

Create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors

Implement end to end functional prototypes of user interfaces

Mentor very senior Java development teams in the use of new UI frameworks and tools

Position Requirements:

At least 7 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, lead web developer or similar role with at least 3 years at a senior level

2 years mentoring and guiding experienced developers as part of your day to day activities

Ability to influence change and lead by the strength of your experience and communication skills

Good visual design sense and strong proficiency in creating wireframes, UI specifications and use cases

Expert level knowledge in the field of UI technologies with the ability and judgment to chart a technology road-map balancing a variety of concerns

Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences at varying levels of the organization

Good judgment leading to the ability to balance business needs and technical constraints

Ability to manage stakeholder expectations

Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques

A portfolio or samples of work (design and code) demonstrating experience creating great user-centered solutions

Preferred Skills

Deep, hands-on technical experience with web frameworks and technologies:

HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JavaScript MVC
EXT-JS, GWT, JQuery,
Ember, Angular, YUI
