What you’ll be doing...

As a full-time member of the Verizon Enterprise Services security team, you will be responsible for overseeing, monitoring, maturing, and coordinating the design of Security Operations Center (SOC) Services for our Customers. The role is client and internal facing and requires the following primary skills: knowledge of the business and offering, risk management, relationship management, coordination, communication skills.

  • Oversee and coordinate the design of the SOC components of the Customer engagement, and ensure successful inclusion of the roles and contractual commitments within the design.

  • Design and oversee implementation of new SOC service model with a unique set of requirements for the Customer’s environment, providing input and recommendations.

  • Drive timely implementation of designed services for the SOC and related optional components of the Customer engagement.

  • Act as a facilitator for liaising between Verizon’s security functions and the customer to ensure proper solution design, socialization, acceptance, and sign-off within the constraints of the contracted services.

  • Provide security consulting oversight and strategic advisory for the customer during the design process to help the Customer improve their overall cyber security posture and reduce their cyber risk in the most optimal, cost effective manner

  • Gather, analyze, understand and apply contextual and business information supporting the SOC services design of the Customer engagement.

  • Ensure proactive and actionable notifications and deliverables are provided to the Customer within specified timeframes and reported as completed by due date.

  • Drive design meetings with Customer stakeholders to discuss emerging threats, new services, technology improvements, and design maturation.

  • Liaise and cultivate relationships with Customer and Verizon stakeholders to identify and reset expectations where appropriate, and adjust expectations within the confines of the existing capabilities should changes in business requirements, threat landscape or other similar requirements so dictate.

  • Review and prepare digestible, actionable and timely information to hierarchical management and Customer stakeholders through recurring reporting, including but not limited to executive summaries, detailed design/progress reports, slide decks, and presentations.

  • Periodically participate in presentations to Customer stakeholders, including management and executives, on information security topics and impacts on Customer strategy.

  • Participate in meetings with other Verizon Security Stakeholders, Sales teams, and Contract Governance management on a regular basis to review on-going issues, interaction points, activities and challenges in the SOC design and delivery space.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in Information and/or Cyber Security.

  • Industry security certification(s) such as CISSP, SANS, CISA, CISM.

  • Willingness to travel as necessary

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • 7+ years of recent experience in Information and/or Cyber Security, preferably in a lead consulting, architecture, advisory or leadership role.

  • Previous experience working with external clients in a Professional Services or managed services type organization with consulting experience in the design, architecture, risk, and compliance area.

  • Experience working in dynamic and fast paced environments.

  • Ability to work independently and interdependently as required.

  • Previous consulting experience with one of the Big 4 a plus.

  • Strong ability to articulate the actual cyber security and business risk along with good problem definition and solution skill.

  • Managed Security Services and Professional Security Services background,

  • Strong ability to learn new technologies and methodologies.

  • Extensive client management experience

  • Detailed oriented and composed in challenging situations.

  • Strong verbal, analytical, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrable presentation skills.

  • Strong coordination experience with ability to work across teams and through organizational divides.
