CDL Drivers
Job Description for CDL Drivers: The primary responsibility of a school bus driver is to pick passengers up at the bus stop and bring them safely to school on time and then back again. Duties of the CDL Drivers & Bus Escorts:
Practice the bus route a few days before the school year begins to become familiar with her route surroundings and have knowledge of other surrounding areas in case she's asked to fill in for another driver.
Routinely perform maintenance checks to ensure the bus is in good working order.
Must ensure that children follow safety regulations, including remaining in their seats at all times until the bus is fully stopped.
Perform a thorough safety check of the bus (check brakes, windshield, fluids, lights and tire pressure).
Communication throughout the day with dispatch.
Inform dispatch of any changes in buses or repairs needed.
Inform dispatch of any traffic accidents involved.
Inform dispatch of any delay in getting students to school on time.
Dispatch will contact with the driver to let her know of any last-minute changes in the route, passengers or if the bus driver is needed to help pick up another driver's passengers.
