COGNOS DATA WAREHOUSE ADMINISTRATOR NYC FINANCIAL INFORMATION SERVICES AGENCY Job ID 115828 of Positions 1 Civil Service Title COMPUTER SYSTEMS MANAGER Title Code No 10050 Level M1 Proposed Salary Range 4949### ####0000 (Annual) Work Location 450 West 33 St New York NY DivisionWork Unit Timekeeping Technical Services The Financial Information Services Agency (FISA) has a vacancy for a CognosData Warehouse Administrator to support ongoing production maintenance for our automated time keeping system (CITYTIME) The main responsibilities of the Data Warehouse Administrator are to Monitor the data and activities inside the data warehouse Administer the data warehousing environment including security data growth performance platform upgrades support agreements and disaster recovery Administer the data warehousing services including query services and production services Review and recommend improvements in areas such as security setup highavailability performance data model etc Support the data warehousing users The candidate will work with various teams but will need to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines Minimum Qualification Requirements 1 A masters degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible fulltime satisfactory experience using information technology in computer applications programming systems programming computer systems development data telecommunications database administration planning of datainformation processing user services or area networks at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming systems programming computer systems development data telecommunications data base administration or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties or 2 A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in 1 above 3 A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or recognized accrediting organization and six years of experience as described in 1 above or 4 A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above However all candidates must have at least a fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or recognized accrediting organization and must possess at least three years of experience as described in 1 above including the 18 months of administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience as described in 1 above Qualification Requirements (continued) NOTE The following types of experience are not acceptable superficial use of preprogrammed software without complex programming design implementation or management of the product use of word processing packages use of a hand held calculator primarily the entering or updating of data in a system the operation of data processing hardware or consoles Preferred Skills 3 years of experience tuning and configuring Data warehousing products Cognos 8 or above is preferred Working knowledge of cube design Design and deployment of data warehousing changes and upgrades Knowledge of ETL processes Knowledge of Oracle SQL Java programming and AIX shell scripting a plus Ability to troubleshoot and find root cause for issues and problems bull Working knowledge on a variety of operating systems (eg AIX Solaris Windows zOS etc) Identify and escalate risks uncovered during testing and suggest remediation actions Coordinate test and rollout schedules with other Infrastructure teams Ability to plan and prioritize work and meet project deadlines Must be selfmotivated and work well with other groups Working with an enterprise wide large scale implementation Experience working in a government or civil service environment is a plus Excellent communication skills (Oral and written) interpersonal and organizational skills are required Additional Information P509 To Apply External applicants please visit httpsa127jobsnycgov rdquohttpsa127jobsnycgovrdquo to apply to Job ID 115828 Current NYC employees may apply via Employee Self Service (ESS) While all complete applications will be given consideration only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by FISA FISA IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Residency Requirement New York City Residency is not required for this position POSTING DATE 01222013 POST UNTIL Until Filled The City of New York is an Equal Opportunity Employer
