Project Manager with Data Warehouse Experience - Software Guidance (New York, NY)

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Project Manager with Data Warehouse experience for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial industry clients in New York City. The consultant will be managing the groups delivery for the data-warehouse project. The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong project management skills along with technical problem solving and communication skills, the ability to comfortably multitask and work in a mission critical environment. Responsibilities: Perform analysis and design for the processes and procedures used for managing large or complex database environments to ensure their availability, integrity, security and recoverability; Manage Database Engineering deliverables for the data-warehouse project Regularly report on project status to program management and project tech lead Maintain running-log of all project activities Co-ordinate System Management activities in support of the data-warehouse project Manage resource scheduling conflicts Provide hands-on database infrastructure support when needed Provide technical expertise to application development teams and interface with the industry vendors for technical support as needed Perform database design reviews and evaluations to ensure that the Group standards and best practices are being adhered to and the resulting physical databases meet project needs Collaborate with the application developers, architects and project team on physical database design and implementation Provide assistance with the investigations and resolution of technical issues and/or problems related to the support and use of database software and environments Prepare high quality documentation of design/architecture/database infrastructure documents; Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely implementation of assigned projects Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary Required Skills: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field Proven experience in managing data warehouse projects Excellent project management skills Familiarity with light-weight and agile project management methodologies Experience in developing detailed plans for complex data warehouse projects Proven experience in Data Warehouse architecture and design Good understanding of financial industry and instruments (especially Fixed income instruments) Skilled at both verbal and written communication Good understanding of Metadata in a financial organization Experience with Microsoft Project Good technical document writing skills Excellent understanding of Oracle database Solid understanding of relational database technologies, relational data modules and data normalization Experience administering Oracle databases Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely implementation of assigned projects Desirables: Hands on experience in latest versions of Oracle database Expertise in Oracle Security features: OID Oracle Internet Directory, OLS Oracle Label Security, DB Vault, VPD Virtual Private Database Experience in performance tuning using OEM and Oracle performance views.
