The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Hunter College of the City University of New York invites applicants for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in physics.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Required: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The candidate will be expected to initiate an externally funded vigorous research program and involve graduate and undergraduate students in their research.

Experimentalists with specialty in biophysics and other related fields are invited to apply. Although candidates in theoretical or computational biophysics or condensed matter experiment or theory will be considered.


Salary range: $47,340 - $81,855CUNY offers a competitive compensation and benefits package to its faculty, covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
