Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive preK:12 independent school serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs. The Ethical Culture Fieldston SchoolA?s middle and upper divisions seek a teacher for their ethics curriculum. Teaching experience in both middle and upper school settings is desired as well as demonstrated leadership in progressive and innovative ethics curriculum. The ideal candidate has knowledge of the following aspects of our programs:ethics as a branch of philosophy and history of secular ethics; Western and Non:Westernissues of health and wellness as they relate to adolescent developmentissues of identity and equity and systemic power experience working collaboratively with students in leadership training and mentoringGood humor, collegiality, flexibility, and excellent writing skills are a must. Because the Ethics department offers courses across a broad spectrum of fields, a range of knowledge in ethical learning, moral philosophy, diversity/social justice, community building, and leadership is also desired, although depth and expertise in any specific field will also be considered. Responsibilities include teaching a full:time course load, working as a member of a grade:level interdisciplinary team, attending faculty meetings, and other shared divisional responsibilities. Ideal candidates will be energized by employing a range of pedagogical approaches and will be excited by the opportunity to teach a diverse student body in a values:based community. We are looking for a candidate who has also demonstrated a commitment to addressing issues of equity, belonging, and privilege, within and outside the classroom. A passion for working with middle school and high school students is essential.BachelorA?s degree : in Ethics, Philosophy, Sociology, Adolescent Psychology (or related fields).
