Northwest Bronx Settlement house seeks to fulfill positions for Out of School Time, Middle School Program. They are the following -

Program Group Leaders

Will be responsible for the overall implementation of after school programming, including supervising and engaging groups of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of the Middle School Program at Tech International Charter School. The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the duties listed in the job description below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in recruitment, orientation, and retention of program participants
Lead a group of 15-30 students from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades through a full schedule of after school programming
Provide a positive, safe, fun and memorable quality experience to all participants and families involved in the Middle School OST Program.
Plan and implement age appropriate and creative activities across the areas of STEM, Literacy, Arts, Leadership, and Recreation.
Work with Education Specialist and other staff to develop theme based hands-on lesson plans and project based activities
Provide mediation and conflict resolution skills when appropriate.
Assist program participants with homework assignments, and connect struggling students with individual volunteer tutors
Assist and supervise participants during snack and other unstructured social and recreation times, including off-site trips and events
Supervise volunteers assigned to work with your group/participants.
Attend weekly all staff meetings, orientation, and training as scheduled
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor/s
Requirements:

Bilingual Spanish is a plus (for communicating with parents)
3-6pm daily work schedule; Some programming during school breaks
Bachelor's degree or some college preferred.
Knowledge of basic Microsoft Word, Access and/or Excel database programs
Minimum two years of experience with youth and families in busy community based settings a plus

Creative, engaging, and proactive approach with young people and their families
Program Activity Specialists

Will be responsible for infusing specialty enrichment programming into 12 week mini-clubs in the areas of STEM, Arts, and Literacy for groups of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of the Middle School Program at Tech International Charter School. The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the duties listed in the job description below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilize specialty skill set to plan and implement curriculum for 12 week mini-clubs in activities such as dance, drama, karate, video, technology, math, engineering, etc.

Provide a positive, safe, fun and memorable quality experience to all participants and families involved in the Middle School OST Program.

Work with Education Specialist and other staff to develop theme based hands-on lesson plans and project based activities that coincide with specialty clubs

Develop culminating performance and showcase opportunities; gradually prepare participants to have leadership roles in these events.

Supervise volunteers assigned to work with your group/participants.

Attend weekly all staff meetings, orientation, and training as scheduled Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor/sRequirements:

Flexibility with afternoon work hours over set time periods.

Bachelor's degree or some college preferred.

Minimum one year of experience in offering specialty programming in the areas of Art, Literacy, STEM, and/or Physical Recreation

Knowledge of basic Microsoft Word, Access and/or Excel database programs

Minimum two years of experience with youth and families in busy community based settings a plus

Creative, engaging, and proactive approach with young people and their families

Program Group Assistants/Counselors

Will be responsible for assisting with the overall supervision of and programming for groups of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of the Middle School Program at Tech International Charter School. The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the duties listed in the job description below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Escort participants to daily activities in different parts of the building, and assist group leaders in the implementation of activities.
Assist participants with homework and check for accuracy
Assist in recruitment, orientation, and retention of participants
Provide a positive, safe, fun and memorable quality experience to all participants and families involved in OST Middle School Program.
Work closely with Group Leaders and Activity Specialists to plan and implement theme based lessons and units within the STEM, Arts, and Literacy enrichment areas.
Assist and supervise youth during snack and meal times.
Perform duties independently with minimal need for direct supervision.Requirements:
Bilingual Spanish is a plus (for communicating with parents)
3-6pm daily work schedule; Some programming during school breaks
High School Diploma or GED required; Some college preferred
Knowledge of basic Microsoft Word, Access and/or Excel database programs
Minimum one year of experience with youth and families in busy community based settings a plus
