We are a growing non-profit network of 4 charter schools serving nearly 1,500 K-8 students throughout Brooklyn, New York. About the Position Explore Schools is seeking experienced educators to serve as a school leadrers. School leaders are responsible for working closely with students, parents, and teachers to maintain a positive school culture characterized by the three key qualities: students demonstrate a desire to succeed; adults demonstrate a belief in all students; and a sense of community is intentionally nurtured.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Student discipline management
- Provides support to teachers – de-escalation/student removal process
- Manages red slip process/implementation
- Manages in- and out-of-school suspension
- Manages student tardy/attendance data
- Manages uniform/homework violations
Student success management
- Builds and maintains a positive school culture
- Participates in CST process
- Develops community-building events
- Designs and implements Respect Corps celebrations
Behavior counseling
- Provide push in support
- Conduct parent workshops and home visits
- Conduct student observations
- Conducts group/at risk counseling/intervention groups
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of students at all times
- Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, as needed, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch & playground duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities
- Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, and sports or arts programs
- Keep accurate & organized records of student information
- Collaborate with colleagues throughout the Explore Schools network

Qualifications
- A successful Dean should have 3+ years of classroom experience and excellent classroom management
- A MS in Education is strongly preferred
