POSITION OVERVIEW

The Learning and Leadership Manager is responsible for a portfolio of education programs and provides support for learning programs for opera administrators. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Services, the ideal candidate is a forward thinker with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and full comprehension of office management systems and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinating meetings, regular communication and resources for the Education and Community Engagement Network. Topics include K-12 education policy, youth opera, teaching artists, community engagement, social impact, and program evaluation.
• Managing the Opera Teens program by facilitating the teen Advisory Committee, producing learning opportunities related to the Operas of the Month, maintaining Council communication platforms and recruiting new participants.
• Managing the National Teacher and Educator Source (NOTES) online platform by drafting promotions, recruiting and supporting users, coordinating with member companies to add resources.
• Assisting with the planning and implementation of meetings, communication and resources for the Leadership Intensive, Civic Action Group and annual conference.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum three years in nonprofit, arts or education administration.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills suited to professional and educational settings.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Ability to achieve high performance goals, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative nature and service-minded approach to working with a range of constituents including arts administrators, youth, teachers, program faculty and nonprofit organizational partners.
• Must be passionate about nonprofit performing arts in the areas of administrative leadership and arts education. Familiarity with opera is essential.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
OPERA America (operaamerica. org), the national nonprofit service organization for opera, leads and serves the entire opera community, supporting the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera.
Founded in 1970, OPERA America is headquartered in New York City at the National Opera Center.

POSITION DETAILS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt. Salary up to $50,000. Periodic evening and weekend hours required, as well as possible out-of-town travel. OPERA America provides health benefits, a pension package, paid vacation and life insurance to all full-time employees. An initial evaluation will occur after three months. Thereafter, evaluations are performed annually on the anniversary of the hiring date by the Director of Programs and Services.
