Program Description: The Learning To Work Program is a collaboration with the NYC Department of Education. The program assists a minimum of 90 students, who are over-aged and under-credentialed, in acquiring the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behavioral changes that will maximize their potential while engaging them in meaningful work experience through subsidized internships. The program's aim is to enable students to graduate high school, transition into post-secondary education, or into meaningful permanent employment.
FLSA: Regular Full-Time Exempt
Reports to: Program Manager
Basic Function: To assess the social, emotional and life needs of children, young adults and families and to connect them to needed services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
⢠Provide case management services to children, young adults and families enrolled in the Learning to Work program.
⢠Provide crisis intervention services
⢠Provide individual and group counseling
⢠Participate in school/administrative planning meetings as directed
⢠Develop and maintain a city-wide referral network and community resource directory to be accessed and used by parents and youth
⢠Provide on-site counseling for children in crisis
⢠Facilitate the acquisition of services through advocacy
⢠Assist students in meeting their academic requirements with the goal of credit accumulation and graduation as program outcomes
⢠Design, develop and implement student and parent workshops
⢠Maintain a parent information board of pertinent community issues and community building opportunities.
Given the school poplulation, candidates must have a highly-functional working knowledge of Mandarin and Cantonese.
Licensed Social Worker. Must have at least 3 years experience providing services to adolescents and families. Familiarity with the Department of Education system a plus. Superior interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of adolescent development and family dynamics. Minimum of 2 years experience working with a similar population. Excellent written and oral skills.

NOTE: The LMSW will receive clincial supervision from LCSW.
