OVERVIEW: The Parent Advocate will assist with parent engagement and education, as well as provide case management and advocacy services to parents of young children in Early Learn sites and in treatment at the Early Childhood Treatment Center clinics. Parent Advocates will provide support from the perspective of a parent, based on their own life experience. RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: Assist program staff in engagement and education activities with parents and staff at Early Learn sites. Help families plan, access and coordinate services for children. Connect children and families with a range of community services and concrete resources, based on identified needs. Provide peer support services to parents. Advocate on behalf of parents, as needed. Actively support and participate in the "warm handoff" between Early Learn sites and the clinic. Function as an integral part of the Early Childhood Treatment Center team, working closely with consultant and clinical staff. Document services provided in a timely manner. Assist with data collection and tracking. Interact with and collaborate with community partners. Travel to Early Learn and other community sites. Participate in training and meetings. Obtain credential of Family Peer Advocate within 18 months of hire. Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalency. Relevant lived experience as a parent of a young child, 0-5, with developmental or mental health challenges. Prior experience working in human services, child care or early childhood education is preferred. Ability to work with diverse social, cultural, and economic groups. Ability to travel to various sites. Good communication and listening skills.
