Postdoctoral Position- Neuroscience

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bryen A. Jordan in the Department of Neuroscience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. The position is available immediately with incomefollowing NIH standards.
Our lab is interested in knowledge how neuronal synapses relay information to the cellular nucleus, identifying key players in this process, and determining the function of these molecules in neuronal function and disease. Recently, we found that genetic aberrations in the ANKS1B gene, which encodes for the protein AIDA-1, are present in individuals suffering from speech impediments, tics and autism spectrum disorders. We recently published that AIDA-1 is important for synaptic and NMDA receptor function by mediating the export of NMDA receptor subunits from the endoplasmic reticulum.

We have initiated a project to analyze iPSC-derived human neurons from individuals harboring abnormalities in the ANKS1B gene. Using this model, we hope to elucidate the cellular mechanisms underlying an uncharacterized brain disorder, and are looking for a cell biologist to join our team.
A doctoral degree in the research field of neuroscience, biochemistry or cell biology would be ideal and excellent scientific writing and oral communication expertise are required. A command of techniques in biochemistry, cell biology and cell culture, including iPSC and neuronal derivation would be preferable.

Interested candidates please forward your curriculum vitae and names of three references to Dr. Bryen Jordan.
