Program Manager of Music Education - Trinity Wall Street (New York, NY)

Reports To: Director, Music & the Arts

Located at the head of Wall Street, TrinityChurch has been part of New York City and our nation's history since its charter in 1697. At its core, Trinity is an Episcopal parish, offering daily worship services and faith formation programs at TrinityChurch, St. Paul's Chapel, and online at trinitywallstreet.org. Today, the collective organization is known as Trinity Wall Street, and includes Trinity Real Estate; Trinity Grants; St. Margaret's House; Trinity Preschool; Trinity Institute; Faith in Action ministries, and an extensive music program, including Concerts@One, the Trinity Choir, and the Downtown Youth Choir.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and administer all aspects of the Music Education and Outreach
    • Hire teachers
    • Liaise with principals at outreach schools
    • Schedule classes
    • Act as a resource person for teachers regarding repertoire/concert planning and for schools looking to implement/expand choral programs
  • Coordinate with Conductor of Trinity Youth Chorus
    • Assist as needed during weekly rehearsals and performances
    • Manage beginning and intermediate chorister groups
    • Assist at annual choir camp
  • Manage partnership with Inter-School Orchestra
    • Book rehearsal space
    • Plan concerts
    • Attend meetings
    • Collaborate with orchestra conductor and others to recruit players and raise profile
  • Fundraising
    • Work with development officer et al. to raise awareness of NYC Schools in need
    • Explore outside sources for Music Education funding, recommend grants and help prepare applications
  • Departmental Administration/Other
    • Represent Director at meetings and functions
    • Lead weekly preschool chapel service
    • Plan and Lead annual Music Camp at Charlotte's Place in collaboration with other departments
    • Collaborate with Trinity Faith Inspiration projects as required
    • Supervise staff

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Extensive work with children
  • Proficient piano/keyboard skills
  • Outreach skills with other educators in the field
  • Grant preparation and research
  • Knowledge of standard choral and orchestral repertoire for children
  • Music curriculum development based on age groups

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS

  • Masters of Music (Education preferred)
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in NYC public school system
  • Start date is flexible
