The Brooklyn Waldorf School

Provide organizational and administrative support with the purpose of achieving successful operations at a private elementary school in Brooklyn. Dynamic Front Office position for a resourceful, energetic and organized person.

This positon will provide practical and comprehensive office support to the teachers, students and community of this growing elementary school and reports to the Business Administrator, working closely with the operations team that is made up of front desk, front office and facilities functions.

The ideal candidate possesses an appreciation for the educational process and has a service oriented outlook related to their position in the school. As well, they should have a background in school operations and office management. They will be dedicated to the health, safety and security of the students and effective, consistent communications with the entire community of the school. They will strive to support efficient and effective processes by employing well thought out and documented policies and procedures.


Set the tone for the school's front desk/reception area by writing or learning, implementing and communicating pertinent procedures and policies, setting up orientations and trainings as well as keeping front desk associates up to date with the school's calendar.
Assist in maintaining the professional appearance of school lobby and surrounding area, as well as coordinate logistics and deliveries, organization of space and tracking of purchases for control purposes.
Define purchasing procedures and execute purchasing of goods and services for the faculty and facilities team.
Offer logistical and organizational support, closely collaborating with the facilities team, to support space optimization and assignments.
Provide and maintain method to log in all Facilities Work Orders and Event Requests and provide analysis of this data to the Building Superintendent to achieve resource optimization.
Work as part of the facilities team to assure planning and budgeting for building and yard needs. Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of all areas of the school.
Track Attendance of students and insure proper communication takes place with teachers, parents and appropriate guardians.
Attend to the needs of the students that are sick, injured and suffering allergic reactions, as a partner with the faculty and parents and appropriate guardians.
Provide needed assistance and information to the families and students of the school.


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
Experience working in a school environment is ideal.
Ability to write policies and procedures and a dedication to keeping them updated, strongly preferred.
Experience working with children related to being responsive to illness, injury and crisis situations is preferred.
Excellent organization, time management and planning/prioritization skills, proven

ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.

Demonstrated expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel).
Collaborative spirit, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of school/student information.
