TECHNICAL TRAINER Industry Government ndash NYC Parks Salary 55000 plus excellent benefits The New York City Department of Parks Recreation (NYC Parks) serves as the steward for over 29000 acres of land which includes 1000 playgrounds 34 recreation centers 66 pools and 14 miles of beach Our primary responsibility is to build and maintain clean safe and accessible parks and to create cultural and educational programs for New Yorkers of all ages to enjoy We are an Equal Opportunity Employer wwwnycgovparks Major Responsibilities Under general supervision with latitude for independent initiative and judgment participate in and conduct training programs for various computer systems Perform site visits to conduct field training on both desktop and mobile systems Use word processor and computer graphics programs in preparation of manuals and other written and visual materials Write and update training materials outlines handouts tests and design training exercises as necessary Regularly draft messaging and content for webbased and digital newsletter channels Qualification Requirements 1) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible clericaladministrative experience requiring independent decisionmaking concerning program management or planning allocation of resources and the scheduling and assignment of work 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clericaladministrative work of more than moderate difficulty or 2) An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible experience as described in ldquo1rdquo above 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clericaladministrative work of more than moderate difficulty or 3) A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory fulltime progressively responsible experience as described in ldquo1rdquo above 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clericaladministrative work of more than moderate difficulty or 4) Education andor experience equivalent to ldquo1rdquo ldquo2rdquo or ldquo3rdquo above However all candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience as described in ldquo1rdquo ldquo2rdquo or ldquo3 above Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clericaladministrative experience (but not for the administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience described in ldquo1rdquo ldquo2rdquo or ldquo3rdquo above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 frac12 years Residency in New York City Nassau Orange Rockland Suffolk Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service New York City residency required for all other candidates Preferred SkillsQualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills Familiarity with webbased applications and handheld devices Experience in writing webbased content Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with photo or multimedia editing Familiarity with social media applications a plus Bachelorrsquos degree Valid New York state driverrsquos license Apply by 21513 NYC Employees Apply through Employee Self Service (ESS) under Recruiting Activities Search for Job ID 116088 All other applicants Go to wwwnycgovcareerssearch Search for Job ID 116088 For details about NYC Parks wwwnycgovparks
