Speaker Bios

Asher Jay

Creative Conservationist and National Geographic Emerging Explorer Asher Jay uses groundbreaking design, multimedia art, writing and lectures to ignite global action to combat conservation crimes, bolster sustainable development and promote humanitarian concerns. Jay, an optimistic change agent who never gives up on the idea that every individual can make an impact on the world.

Jay has created hundreds of artworks, including paintings, multi-media pieces, graphic art, films, art installations, animation, photography and murals to raise awareness for environmental causes. She condenses complex narratives, academic research, and scientific data into highly contagious, emotionally evocative mass media campaigns by employing conceptual art to give visual voice to conservation issues. Her campaigns and artwork inspire individual impact, and prompt movement towards improving our collective well-being. By combining her educational background in Fashion Design and Marketing and her love of science, wildlife, travel and global culture, Jay has created a unique body of work and track record for global outreach that feeds off her passions and skills.

She is a staunch supporter of animal rights, wildlife conservation, and sustainable development, and she uses all her creative faculties to spark engaging visual discourses with audiences across the globe about contemporary ecological and humanitarian concerns. Additionally, Jay produces works for fundraisers under the EnAct (Environmental Activism) banner. She also directed, illustrated and produced an animated short, Transparent Sea, which was awarded “Honorable Mention” at the Blue Film Festival in Monterey. The film has since been amended to include hard facts about plastic consumption for 5 Gyres, who intend to use it as their Ban the Bag PSA.

In 2012, Jay developed a collaborative, global, and educational art installation entitled Message in a Bottle, as a platform to foster creative dialogues about marine and wildlife conservation. Each of the 300 pieces in this installation contains a quote from a notable figure in conservation, science, and entertainment – scientists, authors, activists, artists and even a few celebrities. Message in Bottle has traveled to numerous cities across the globe.

In 2013, Asher Jay produced an animated spot on the 'Blood Ivory' trade, which was released on a Times Square Billboard in New York for one month. The campaign galvanized support for the cause from over 1.5 million people. Her iconic images have come to reshape public perception and influence shifts in cultural consciousness across various countries.

In 2014, Jay created a mural in the Serengeti National Parks and was made Artist-in-Residence at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jackson Hole, WY and Serengeti, Tanzania. She also designed a 3-foot tall Fabergé egg for Fabergé’s Big Egg Hunt in New York City.

Jay has exhibited her art and given stirring talks at several prestigious venues, including the United Nations, American Museum of Natural History, Capitol Hill, White House, Clinton Global Initiative, National Geographic, TEDx, Wilderness Congress, National Museum of Wildlife Art, World Parks Congress, Blue Ocean Film Festival, etc.

Her work, articles, and interviews have appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic, Scientific American, ABC News, Time Out NY, ScienceLine, Mission Blue, The Dodo, Tree Hugger, See 7 Magazine, Mother Nature Network, Eco Chick, Green Upgrader, and on several NGO’s blog feeds (5 Gyres, Thinking Animals, Great Whale Conservancy, U.S. National Committee for UN Women, etc). www.AsherJay.com

Guy Reid

Filmmaker, director, speaker, and photographer Guy Reid is one of the founders of Planetary Collective, a group of filmmakers, visual media creatives, and thinkers who work with cosmologists, ecologists and philosophers to explore some of the big questions facing our planet at this time. Embracing a multi-disciplinary, multi-media approach, Planetary Collective brings scientists, philosophers and researchers together with designers, coders and creatives to bring new perspectives to audiences around the world in fresh and innovative ways. Planetary Collective, founded in 2011 as a direct answer to the big questions our civilization and species is currently facing, believes that the root of the environmental and social crises facing humanity is the misperception that we are separate – from each other, the planet and the cosmos as a whole. Reid’s films include Overview (Short), Continuum (Feature), and his brand new film PLANETARY (Documentary Feature).

In October 2013, Reid’s film Overview won the Environmental Media Award for Digital Content in Partnership with TakePart.com from The Environmental Media Association. EMA, a non-profit organization, founded in 1989 by Cindy and Alan Horn and Lyn and Norman Lear, works within the entertainment industry to encourage green production and raise public awareness of environmental issues.

Reid’s newest film PLANETARY, which will be debuting at SXSW 2015, examines the crisis status of our planet. The film asserts that not only is the issue is deeper than we might think but that the fundamental problem lies in the way we see the world. PLANETARY presents a stunning visual portrait of our Earth, taking us on a journey across continents with intimate interviews with astronauts, scientists, environmentalists and philosophers. It further asserts that the solution to the Earth’s crisis can be found in an emerging worldview that points to our interdependence. PLANETARY explores this worldview, weaving together perspectives and ideas from some of the key theorists and thinkers in the fields of cosmology, environmentalism, sustainability, social theory, anthropology and systems dynamics, telling the story of where we have come from, where we are now, and the possibilities for our future. PLANETARY features talking head interviews with key experts, stylish and clear motiongraphics, and an innovative VISUAL NARRATIVE the film frames our planetary crisis in a unique way, at the same time showing how awesome our planet is.

Using cutting-edge cinematography, and techniques like time-lapse, slow motion and macro- photography, we will build a visual narrative that emphasizes the beauty and complexity of the natural world, the relationship between humanity and the environment, and the inspiring organizations and projects appearing around the world to confront and transform our current planetary crises.

Reid holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership in Sustainable Development at Forum for the Future in London, graduating with the Richard Sandbrook prize for Leadership in Sustainable Development, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Eastern Philosophy and Religion at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) with a focus on Indo-Tibetan Buddhism and the relationship between worldview and ecology. Reid particularly enjoys Science Fiction films and exploring the rich worlds of green tea and Indian classical music. www.weareplanetary.com

About Us

Blue Beyond Borders

Go into the blue…

Blue symbolizes all our planet has to offer. It is the most concise way to describe the most iconic view of our planet as seen from space. Blue stands for oceans, lakes, air, sky, sea, and atmosphere. It represents all the planet's water, which feeds and fuels all living organisms on Earth, whether land-based or underwater. Blue stands for freedom. And beyond all else, if Earth is only one thing, it is Blue, and we must stop ignoring our planet. We must go into the Blue and save our world.

Blue Beyond Borders is devoted to creating unique and evocative seminar and workshop events that promote awareness about pollution, destruction of ecosystems, extinction, wildlife preservation, ocean conservation, and climate change as well as prestigious, well-publicized charity fundraiser events for NGOs in the environmental and wildlife conservation movement.

Gang stalking, also known as cause stalking or multi-stalking, is a phenomenon in which multiple individuals conspire to defame, slander, and psychologically attack another individual. This harassment may take the form of phone hacking, cyber stalking, and acts of "micro-aggression" which go undetected by individuals who have not been "sensitized" to it. Workplace "mobbing" is one type of gang stalking. Read about the 5+ year long ordeal of group harassment targeted at an ex-film star living in New York City here:

http://giaregency.wordpress.com

This can happen to ANYONE for ANY REASON, but oftentimes it is politically or financially motivated.

"DEAR PAT COOPER," WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FATHER PASQUALE CAPUTO
- AUTHOR: MICHAEL CAPUTO - PUBLISHER: CODY BOY BOOKS

WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN TO BE A "FATHERLESS" CHILD?

- It seems like I have been writing this book forever. I waited to publish my story until after my grandmother’s passing to spare her from reliving anymore of the pain. But I am grateful to God that my mother lived long enough to see the completion and publication of my book.

- At first I wanted to write about how much I hated my father for not caring about my sister and I, but deep down all I ever really wanted to do was to tell him how much I loved him and missed him being in my life. I tried my best to tell my father that, to show my father that, but he never saw or ever heard me. Maybe he just never wanted to. Every time we met, which was few and far, he found fault with my clothes, my manners, and always always with the rest of our family. These attacks became part of his persona and a way of alienating himself from me and everyone else in our family.

- What did any of us do to make my father keep away from the whole family and go find himself a new one? He seemed and talked like he hated us with every fiber of his being. It never failed, no matter how many times I tried to connect with my father, Pasquale Caputo; all I ever got from him was Pat Cooper, the angry comedian.

- My purpose for writing this book first and foremost is to hopefully help other children who are going through or have been through a similar experience as I, of having a narcissistic, emotionally unavailable parent. Second, is to honor the Caputo name for which I am very proud of, the same name that my father in his later years tried to disgrace. Last but not least, to honor the unconditional love of my paternal grandmother and my mother because without them only God knows where my sister and I would have ended up.

- Michael Caputo, comedian Pat Cooper's son
