Job description

Bronx House Senior Center is a hub for active older adults. The Assistant Director plays a very important role in running the day-to-day functions of this bustling center. He/She creates and implements classes, oversees and assists with lunch service, completes administrative tasks as needed and engages with the community in an effort to increase membership. The Assistant Director is a dynamic and energetic person with a strong ability to multi-task and meet the many demands of Senior Center members and staff.


Assist with preparation of monthly activity calendar
Run at least 5 classes per week with senior center members (Classes can incorporate education, culture, arts, mental health, technology and physical exercise in compliance with DFTA standards)
Research information to help facilitate constructive educational/cultural discussions
Plan events & create flyers
Conduct community outreach to increase membership by promoting events and activites
Plan and supervise several offsite trips per month
Assist with lunch service
Assist new members with registration
Enter member files into database
Provide and document information units as per DFTA standards
Attend several Open Sunday events throughout the year, including agency Open Houses
Assist Director with special projects as needed and run the program in the Director's absence

Familiarity with DFTA standards, AED/CPR certification and possesion of a NYC Certificate in Food Protection are a plus. Candidate will be required to successfully complete NYC food protection course within three months of hiring. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
