Blood Bank Assistant Director
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK (USA). Staten Island University Hospital is a 714-bed, progressive, state-of-the-art teaching facility. The hospital is recognized nationally for its quality of clinical care, including a top-ranked Cardiothoracic Surgery Program. Regional Burn Center, New York State-designated Stroke Center, and an ASBS-designated Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.

Founded in 1861, Staten Island University Hospital today is a member of the Northwell Health System, and enjoys numerous academic and clinical affiliations and accreditations.

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, a principal teaching affiliate of Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine, seeks a suitable candidate for an Associate Medical Director of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service. The SIUH Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service represents an actrive and integral core component of the Nalitt Institute for Cancer and Blood Related Diseases. The Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service comprises an active transfusion service, specializing in oncological, postetrical and cardiovascular surgical transfusion support, and moreover provides clinical oversight of the therapeutic apheresis program.

The position will involve a wide range of clinical responsibilities, as well as teaching and mentoring of residents. This position will include a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology at either SUNY Downstate School of Medicine or Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine, commensurate with academic achievement, at either the Associate or Assistant Professor Level. The environment provides substantial opportunities for clinical and translational research. Applicants should be committed to excellent patient care as well as teaching, scholarship, and clinical or translational research. Candidates should be board certified in Clinical Pathology or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology as well as eligible/certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and must have or be eligible for a New York State Medical License.
