The House Manager is responsible for the efficiency of house operations and the safety of all patrons. House Manager will maintain a professional demeanor and image to assure the highest level of customer service. Must be able to be diplomatic and friendly and take into consideration diverse populations who attend live theatre in New York City and the limitations of volunteer ushers; must respond effectively during emergencies including evacuations. Position requires a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends for 5-6 performances a week.

House Manager reports to the General Manager and supervises front-of-house operations for performances in conjunction with the Theater Management/Box Office.

House Manager duties shall include, but shall not be limited to:

1. Scheduling and overseeing ushers.

2. Coordinating playbill distribution and stuffing.

3. Seating patrons with the assistance of an usher and managing special seating requests and latecomer seating.

4. Maintaining a clean and safe house and inner lobby areas, ensuring patron comfort and safety.

5. Documenting patron issues and concerns and reporting to proper authority

6. Coordinating with Theatre Manager and Stage Management to ensure punctual start times

7. Draft and distribute House Managers report immediately following each performance.

8. Overseeing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

Qualified candidate will have experience in theatre house management and a customer service related field, as well as first-hand understanding of New York City theater operations and standard practices.
