Recto y Verso Editions attempts to blur the lines between a traditional bookstore and contemporary art gallery. We stock and sell on consignment original works produced by independent authors/artists. We also develop/print/sell books, a few times a year, under our own Recto y Verso Editions imprint.

RVE NEEDS "Gallerinas"/GALLERY INTERNS for the 2017/2018 season. We offer true hands on experience in a real art gallery setting in Gallery Management, Curatorial/Special Exhibitions, Art Installation/Handling, Archival Work, Publicity/Social Media, Retail Sales and General Administrative Duties.

These duties will give the intern a well-rounded knowledge and experience for advancement in Small Business, Media Relations, Publicity and Advertising, Event Planning, Logistics, and Artists and Repertoire (A & R).

Non-paid internships can last for a few months, a semester or possibly two semesters depending on intern performance.

A Satisfactory or Higher rating will earn intern a positive Letter of Reference from Gallery Owner, Poet Christian Ortega www.christianortega.com (on Recto y Verso Editions letterhead) which can be used for further advancement in any field.

Job: Internship
RVE: Recto y Verso Edition, Inc. is a publisher, book store and event space located in the heart of Kingston, New York's burgeoning Midtown Arts District. Specializing in limited editions, independent authors, small press, special exhibitions, artist's books/ephemera and more. The work featured is not limited to strictly two dimensional visual artworks, but also various three dimensional art, mixed media as well as installations.

Gallery Interns will be involved in all aspects of gallery operations in a real art gallery setting. Duties Include daily maintenance, art handling, desk duties, data entry, and research projects. Interns will also gain valuable experience in assisting with client and artist relations, and planning for exhibitions and events. This is an opportunity to learn the daily operations of a unique contemporary art gallery.

Responsibilities:
Greeting potential clients
Answering phone calls
Assisting in art handling and Installation
Assisting in the delivery and receiving of packages on behalf of the gallery
Maintaining gallery social media
Assisting in other gallery-related duties on a daily basis as needed

Qualifications:
Studying art, art history, business, or marketing preferred.
Must be PUNCTUAL, resourceful, skilled in communication
Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
Able to work alone as with a group of people
Must be detailed oriented and well organized
Installation experience is a big plus.

Must be able to lift at least 30lbs.

Requirements

WORK REQUIREMENTS: US Work Authorization is required.
MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GPA: 3.4
