Manager medical billing - Your Company (New York, NY)

I have been in the business for 20 years. There was a budget cut and I was let go. I managed the payment posting deptartment. I also worked on policies and procedures and did evaluations for staff members. I delegated work everday and watched stats from staff. I hired and fired staff when needed. I am a team player. To get the work done, I rolled up my sleeves and was right there. Month-end was crucial for us. There were times when we were at work till 12:00AM. I convinced my boss to have the program put in for each staff member at home. I feel you get more work done on weekends and at night when you get a second wind. The work became easier to handle this way. I also took care of banking. We still had paper checks (locals,workers comp,no fault). We mostly posted electronically. which also had a gray side to it. It would create refunds. We posted copays, denials, balances and write offs if approved by doctor or a manager. I mostly worked in excel all day for each client that we had. I would have to keep track of every penny in their accounts. The accountants were very strict. I had some experience took some tests for HIPPA COMPLIANCE. I did time sheets and scheduling for vacations and other days. We also scanned work for staff members who were not on site to help us post. We were going to start hospital billing, which is somewhat different, but then I left. We had managerial meetings one day a week to try to make things work smoother and of course more efficient.
