Course Syllabus

General Information

Þ Purpose:
Ø Provide an opportunity to gain valuable work experience and skills for students preparing to enter the workforce with a particular emphasis on the Environmental, Sustainability and Renewable Energy Industry. Help develop personal and professional skills such as, effective communication, working in teams, project management, goal setting, and decision making.

Ø minimum 2 Days per week at 8 hours per day

Ø 12 weeks

Ø Available, to be determined based on experience of Intern and nature of School requirements/limitations.

Course Description

Þ This internshipoffering through New York State Solar combines theoretical and professional work experience in a non-academic setting. Supervision is provided for the student at the place of assignment (NY State Solar) by a designated on-site coordinator. This course is designed as supervised fieldwork.


Þ Todevelop existing and new skillsets, enhancing the student’s opportunity for a quick and successful workforce placement after graduation.

Þ As a component of our business, students can expect to gain a detailed understanding of one or more areas of sustainability (wind; solar; renerwableenergy) through a hands-on workexperience.

Þ Studentswillbeexposed to multiple departments and have the chance to applylearnedbusiness management and marketing concepts throughvarioustasks and assignedprojects.

Þ Along with training, meetings and mentoring, the studentswill help themselvesdevelop and strengthen a broad range of personaland professionalskills to carry forwardin theircareerafter graduation.
