Role Background

AIG has an opportunity for an ambitious and energetic Senior Business Analyst to join the Underwriting Analytics team within AIG Commercial. The team consists of world class business minds and has been created to help drive transformational change in Commercial Underwriting through analytics and innovation. Our goal is to make AIG Commercial Underwriting more data- and analytics-driven, drawing on new technologies and foresight into global industry developments to define best-in-class insurance for the generations to come. The group is highly visible, fully supported by the leadership team of AIG and has a broad and global mandate to solve complex business problems.

Position Summary:

The Senior Business Analyst will play an integral role in the development of evidence-based strategies for the Commercial Underwriting team. They will work closely with cross-functional colleagues to develop innovative insights and solutions to drive superior underwriting performance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform detailed analysis to better understand key business drivers and areas for improvement

  • Quickly learn about new topics and new areas of the business to generate both micro- and macro-level insights

  • Develop specific recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence

  • Communicate recommendations effectively and compel colleagues to action

  • Collaborate with colleagues in a variety of roles across AIG, from senior business stakeholders to IT professionals and data scientists


Position Requirements:

  • Powerful blend of IQ (technical skills, consistent learning, statistical & financial acumen) and EQ (adaptive communication, empathy, listening skills, challenging with humility)

  • High level of quantitative and research skills, and proven data interpretation capabilities

  • Outstanding analytical problem solving and teamwork skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Self-learning, energetic, enthusiastic and good team player

  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

  • An interest in insurance, statistical modelling and business intelligence visualization tools

  • Bachelor’s and/or a higher degree in Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Accounting or a similar quantitative field

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a consulting, engineering or business analytics role
