Storage and Server Manager - Procom (New York, NY)

Procom has a contract opportunity for a Storage & Server Manager for a client located in NYC. DESCRIPTION: Need to have excellent record in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery as related to Storage and Server environments. Manage and work with a team of 4-6 server/storage engineers. The ideal resource is one with intelligent business savvy (interacted with IT vendors and negotiated for best pricing on products) who understands the technical environment and able to present to VP and C-level executives the business reasons for changes within I.T. The other aspect of this candidate is having a strong “hands-on” approach – willing to dive into the systems and work alongside the team when deadlines need to be met or systems stall/crash/freeze, etc. We need a leader with detailed understanding of the technical environment. Able to discuss details around system deployments and why the company needs 1 storage system over another – make business recommendations for technology changes and needs and justify the solution recommendations. Able to create velocity when a problem is discovered to resolution. This is not a Project Manager or pure Manager position, this is a leader with strong technical capabilities and has been exposed to multiple areas of work. Technical environment: Servers - Dell and HP rackmount, Solaris servers Storage – Hitachi (HDS), EMC Network - Cisco Database Management Systems – Informix, SQL, Oracle VMWare exposure (ESX servers 3.x) Should possess knowledge in one or more of the following: - EMC storage - Hitachi (HDS) Storage - Cisco networking - VMWare - Solaris servers - HP servers - Dell servers - Oracle Database The candidate should possess strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment while maintaining a persistent, dedicated, and "can-do" attitude.
