This role will focus on identifying emerging and disruptive technology vendors, products, and solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and cultivating the relationship with these vendors to drive innovation within Verizon.

Through leading the development and support of central strategies for the Technology organization the individual will aggregate market intelligence, new technologies (IoT, M2M, 5G, Dev Ops, Cloud, Agile) and provide key strategic insights.
This role will be responsible for presenting recommendations to senior leadership in Corporate Technology, Product Development, Technology Planning and Network Operations. The role will use data analytics and make strategic decisions regarding trends in technology and services to implement change within Verizon’s Technology teams.
Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for driving technology transformation through strategic vendor partnerships.
Develop a diversified set of disruptive and emerging suppliers for Verizon’s IT and Network technology needs to accelerate the technology transformation, reduce cost structures and help enable new revenue streams.
Gain understanding of their ability to meet Verizon’s needs.
Work with the VC’s, startups, broader supplier community and to develop healthy pipe line of companies and technologies.
Work with innovation lab teams to incubate and accelerate validation of the technology. Facilitate integration of new suppliers with existing partners through the preliminary assessments. Influence new software delivery models like micro services, methodologies, roadmaps driving change.
Support the development of detailed business cases for next generation disruptors that includes competitive analysis and total cost of ownership of technology. Once selected assist in adoption of the technology/strategy in coordination with various internal departments.
Enable an agile and simplified onboarding process for emerging suppliers.
Drive the future state operating models with new suppliers and startups. Will need to lead the initial transition program from current incumbents to put new models in place (i.e.: pay as you go; consumption and utility based etc.).
Working with the next generation partners, manage all aspects of Intellectual Property including: identification/creation of new technologies, patent fillings, and knowledge of competitive patents.
Identify new technologies for application areas such as IOT, Next generation Broadband, Video Delivery & AR/VR.
Develop means of demonstrating & showcasing Verizon technology to external partners, thought leaders, VC’s, regulatory bodies to generate interest.
Influence new software delivery models like micro services, methodologies, roadmaps driving change.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Extensive software development experience, including API development (REST, XML, etc.) and SOA methodology.
Familiarity and knowledge of the SDLC in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
Expert in creating business case, use cases, storytelling and driving change.
Must be self-motivated and a self-starter with positive can do attitude.
Excellent communication, writing, presentation, problem solving and analytical skills.
Master’s degree or an MBA
Knowledge of Agile Development, continuous integration and automation testing.
Experience with continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, Bamboo, CruiseControl or TeamCity.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service platforms: AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, Soft Layer, OpenStack, etc…
Working knowledge of machine learning techniques, distributive computing tools (Spark, Hive, etc.) and Hadoop.
Demonstrated ability to create clear and detailed technical diagrams and documentation.
Deep understanding of networks, new emerging network concepts and network virtualization.
In-depth working knowledge of the 4G Evolved Packet System architecture to be able to determine impact changes on part of the network can have on the rest.
Demonstrated Architectural Leadership (applications, virtualization, security, network) and DevOps experience, preferably a blend of wireless and wireline technologies.
Knowledge of wireless network functions (network elements like EPC, IMS, PCRF, etc).
Working knowledge of the standards (3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, GSMA, etc.) specifications.
Understanding of current IT systems, software, cloud and software defined networks.
Understands current technologies, suppliers, challenges and emerging architectures needed to drive transformation.
Effectively and efficiently matching internal needs with new supplier’s capabilities.
Manage relationship with incubator companies and be in tune with next generation technologies like SDN/NFV, 5G, API management, Cloud platforms, OSS, VR/AR, Aerial networks.
Appropriately manage new technology supplier deliverables into the lab and risk.
Ability to communicate the changes in the external world, implications to Verizon and developing a call to action
Requires knowledge of the startup process and market analysis for products and services.
Works efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work successfully in a cross functional team environment.
Advance user of MS applications, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, meet deadlines, simultaneously work on multiple projects.
