Patchogue, NY: Brookhaven Memorial Hospital is located on the south shore of Long Island and has been serving the needs of 28 communities throughout Suffolk County since 1956. It is conveniently located approximately 60 miles east of NYC and about 30 miles from L.I.s east end and twin forks. The medical center is comprised of the main campus, two community muli-disciplinary health centers, and a modern state of the art facility located in downtown Patchogue that accommodates a Hemodialysis program, Home Health and Hospice/Bereavement services as well as an off-site ambulatory Womans Imaging Center. The hospital has 306 acute-care beds and is designated as a level II Trauma center. The Emergency department opened in 2002 and is a state of the art, 30,0 sq. foot facility. We currently staff the department with 78 - 80 hours of physician coverage with an additional 24 - 32 hours of midlevel coverage in the Express Care. In 2007, the hospital was the recipient of the PRC 4-Star Emergency Department National Excellence in Healthcare award. Approximately 70,0 patients are treated annually with a 23% admission rate.
