What You'll Do:

Provide clinical officesupport to Physicians & Surgeons and perform patient care andadministrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Fulfill patient careresponsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules andorganizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room,assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing,

* Duties and Responsibilities:

Fulfill patientcare responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules andorganizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room,assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, collectingand processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc.

* Assist physicians with various procedures,takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answerscalls and provides pertinent information.

* Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assignedwhich may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaininglab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.

* Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managingcharts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.

* These responsibilities may be carried outusing the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manually as necessary.

* Enter orders into the electronic medicalrecord (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of thephysician for the review and approval by the ordering physician.

* Inventories, orders or re-stocks medicalsupplies as applicable.

* Provide set-up of examination room andinstruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established byhospital and infection control policies.

* Maintain logging system as required forrefrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process,crash cart, point of care testing or others as needed.

* Check expiration dates on all medications andmedical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy.

* Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy workenvironment by following standards and procedures; comply with legalregulations.

* Comply with established personal protectiveequipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood andother potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation andother hazardous substances.

* Assist in the maintenance of medical charts(filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).

* May schedule surgeries/procedures or work inconjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparingcharts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary.

* May be required to perform proficientphlebotomy duties.

* May perform appointment scheduling andregistration for patients as well as updating patient demographic and insuranceinformation.

* May maintain, adjust and confirm patientoffice schedule.

* May check and verify & update insuranceinformation utilizing internal or web sources.

* May perform and verify pre-certification forprocedures as necessary.

* Performs other duties as assigned.


* HighSchool Diploma/GED.Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved schoolor equivalent training and experience.


* Completion of a Medical Assistant certificateprogram from an approved school or two years of experience working as a medicalassistant. Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
