What you will do:

The Per Diem Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating andtreating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence. Developsand designs treatment plans for physically, mentally and/or emotionallydisabled patients. Occupational Therapists enable, enhance and improve patientsability to gain independent, productive daily living and working environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Examines and assesses patients' physical, cognitive andlearning abilities to determine realistic attainable rehabilitation goals andplan of care.

2. Treatment interventions are based on findings of theevaluation and the plan of care.

3. Selects educational, recreational and social activitiesthat will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limitsof their cognitive and physical capabilities.

4. Reassesses patients' progress and prepares reports thatdetails progress.

5. Documents therapy activities and maintains necessaryrecords in patient files.

6. Provides training and education to caregivers inpreparation of discharge.

7. Recommends changes in patients' work or livingenvironments that is consistent with their needs and capabilities.

8. Provide documentation of medical necessity for approval ofDME/adaptive equipment and ongoing treatment.

9. 1-2 continuing education courses per year

What you will bring:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy

New York State Occupational Therapy License

National Board for Certification in OccupationalTherapy (NBCOT) preferred.


Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy Program
