Overview

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing services and care to children, adolescents and their families supported in the clinic by providing full psychiatric and medical assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, recommendations and follow up. The Nurse Psychiatric Practitioner also provides clinical consultation to the interdisciplinary clinical team, participate in clinical presentations, agency's learning collaboratives and weekly consultation meetings. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner adheres to the agency strength based culture and is expected to provide person-centered, trauma informed psychiatric treatment

Responsibilities

Conducts psychiatric assessments to children and adolescents receiving psychotherapy services within the programProvides maintenance Psychotropic medication management and assesses for the presence of medication side effectsPerforms physical examinations and preventative health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions when neededOrders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess for clinicalhealth care needsRecords findings and formulates plan and prognosis based on conditionReviews and discusses cases with head Psychiatrist and clinical team, including but not limited to, other health professionals to prepare person supported comprehensive treatment planInitiates, develops and submits treatment plans for approval by physicianPrescribes or recommends medication or other forms of treatment related to therapeutic needsMay refer person supported to a physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatmentResponsible for documenting all visits, medications prescribed and writing of ordersAttends weekly supervision with Psychiatrist or Agency's Medical DirectorAttends weekly interdisciplinary team meeting

Qualifications

Licensed Nurse Practitioner-minimum 2 years' experience with population served Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, Excel) and experience with Electronic Health Record and E-prescribing Able to encourage positive attitude toward consumer's capabilities and limitations
