Position Description
American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has a great opportunity for a Manager of Investigations within the Internal Audit Division. The position focuses on the development and implementation of data analytics and a continuous monitoring infrastructure to enhance current investigation practices and proactively identify events that may be indicative of employee or agent misconduct, financial irregularities, auditing and internal control issues. The investigative work may require travel, depending on the location of the conduct at issue. The Manager of Investigations will have the following key competencies and/or job responsibilities:
. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage a team, provide honest and constructive feedback, and coach team members to enhance their career development.
. Lead in the development of future state vision, initiative/solution recommendations, and implementation roadmaps.
. Lead in the design and implementation of custom, technology enabled business solutions to identify trends and exceptions and highlight potential areas of concern.
. Experience leading with the design and implementation of data governance processes; the assessment and remediation of data quality related issues; working with large and complex enterprise data models and large volumes of data.
. Proficient in using and teaching data analytics technology and methods, to perform queries and analyses and for defining and correlating data, and skilled at utilizing data visualization platforms to organize and present summarizations, predictive analysis, comparative analysis, dashboards and reporting.
. Manage the execution of periodic monitoring of operational or financial data to recognize patterns and trends, investigate anomalies, and assess internal control environment.
. Understand how key risks and controls impact the business from an operational, accounting and/or systems perspective, and document client processes, procedures, and control environment.
. Identify internal control deficiencies as well as opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, and communicate these results in written reports.
. Possess strong writing and analytical skills required to draft reports detailing work performed and conclusions reached that require minimal editing and provide a clear message to ensure client understanding and suggestion for corrective and remedial action.
. Anticipation, identification, and escalation of issues impacting delivery timelines and budget.
. Manage the day-to-day project relationships at peer levels.
. Plan, design and manage the execution of data analytic procedures in support of investigations and special reviews, with a moderate level supervision (relevant to the years of experience).
. Review and document processes, procedures, and control environment.
. Understand how key risks and controls impact the business from an operational, accounting and/or systems perspective.
. Possess strong analytical skills to identify audit risks, investigative concerns and appropriate testing or investigative procedures.
. Draft reports detailing work performed and conclusions reached that require minimal editing and provide a clear message to ensure client understanding and suggestion for corrective action and remediation plans.
. Assist with the preparation of quarterly reporting to Senior Management and the Audit Committee.
. Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and participate in assignments in a team environment.
. Strong organizational skills and proven ability to effectively prioritize initiatives to meet expectations.
. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to all levels of senior management.
. Ability to think in a creative and innovative manner and continually evolve with changing business needs and conditions.
. Holds self accountable for the success of the team and the department.
. Must demonstrate strong ethics and ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and identities.
Position Requirements
. 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting (public or private), financial investigations or data analytics.
. B.S. / B.A. degree in Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems or Statistics.
. Insurance industry knowledge and/or financial services industry experience is highly preferred
. Experience developing data modeling tools and techniques
. Knowledge of data warehouse, database design and data mining techniques
. Strong knowledge of SQL, SAS, Microsoft SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Tableau, TIBCO-SpotFire, CliqView or SPSS
. Superior Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint and ability to learn software packages quickly.
. Certification such as CPA / CIA / CISA / CFE / CFSA is a plus;
