Position Summary:

AEEM (Alternatives, Equities and External Mandates) is recruiting an energetic and experienced Senior Analyst to support the development of the team’s direct equity co-investment portfolio. The position reports to Managing Director, Direct Equity Investments, in New York.

Tasks & Responsibilities will include:

• Work with the senior Direct Equity investment professionals to source, screen and analyze the investment merit of direct equity, growth equity and venture capital opportunities in support of AEEM’s broader investment portfolio.

• Perform financial analyses as directed by senior investment professionals, including:
- Valuation of private companies; comparable company/transaction valuations; fundamental industry and company analysis; complex LBO modeling; discounted cash flow analysis; capital budgeting; WACC, etc.

• Execute due diligence on potential investments; complete quantitative analyses to support investment theses and assess risks, as may be requested by the transaction lead.
- Meet with financial sponsors / corporate managers and preparing written assessments
- Research markets, industries, companies and products
- Support transaction lead in negotiation and finalization of legal documentation

• Participate in preparing memoranda for the AEEM Investment Committee detailing the opportunity, analysis of relevant theses and risks, and recommendation of the AEEM direct equity team.

• Monitor and report on the direct equity portfolio (legacy and new). Initiate, develop and maintain appropriate tools (mostly based on Excel) for portfolio monitoring and analysis, including:
- Valuation of private companies and portfolios
- Preparation of materials/reports for AEEM clients
- Maintenance of the direct equity portfolio database, production of reports (deal pipeline, deal funnel, forward calendar) and ad-hoc analyses
- Develop processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the investment function

• Prepare private equity and leveraged finance market updates for inclusion in monthly / quarterly reports to AEEM’s asset tower committee. Analyze global private equity deal activity and trends for consideration in setting AIG's direct equity strategy

• Assisting in the sale of direct equity / venture investments to third party purchasers
- Conducting mark-to-market valuations of portfolio
- Supporting the auction process
- Completing the transfer of interests, including: execution of SPA and transfer agreement

Position Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor-level degree in economics, finance, business or law from a reputable institution.

• 1 to 3 years of experience with principal investment as an analyst with a reputable financial services or investment firm (e.g. private equity / credit, investment bank, asset management firm). Completion of relevant company training programs.

• Superior analytical and corporate finance skills, including the use of spreadsheet and database software for quantitative analysis, LBO modeling, valuation of private companies; comparable company/transaction valuations; industry and company analysis; discounted cash flow analysis; capital budgeting; WACC

• Strong understanding of financial product environments

• Experience analyzing and interpreting materials related to direct investment and understanding of fund investing.

• Excellent written and oral presentation skills; ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Experience with Capital IQ, Preqin, Burgiss, Salesforce and Bloomberg is an advantage.

• Personal qualities: entrepreneurial, self-directed, intellectually curious, fact-driven, results-oriented, possessing a balanced ego and unquestionable integrity.
