Position Description
The O&S PMO is responsible for maintaining a global O&S Portfolio consisting of 220+ projects equating to $4.5B in one time spend and $8B in benefits (~40 O&S sponsored, ~30 O&S Corporate programs and ~150 business related projects), as well as for implementing PMO processes (program/project governance, processes, guidelines) consistent with AIG standards, providing early visibility into the program/project pipeline and managing the program/project funding and review process. In addition the PMO is accountable for the achievement of targeted program/project results and ensuring the appropriate levels of program/project management rigor are applied. Internal O&S clients are located mainly in New York City and New Jersey, but 10-15% travel is possible.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
. Develop and Implement portfolio and project management methodologies, tools and controls to effectively manage and prioritize the portfolio and to improve program and project planning, management and delivery
. Govern and Oversee Corporate O&S programs/projects >$500K to reduce project failure and maximize benefits
. Track and Align the portfolio to control health, spend and resources and identity duplication and contention
. Deliver Executive Portfolio Reporting that provides a consolidated view of the state and performance of all O&S planned or in-flight corporate and business related projects
. Validate Corporate O&S project strategy, budget alignment, benefit commitment and implementation feasibility
. Facilitate the development and IDB approval of Corporate O&S project funding requests >$1M in one time spend
. Assist with the annual strategic project planning and budgeting processes
. Partner with the Enterprise Program Management Office and other Business and Corporate PMOs to develop and implement global portfolio and project management processes, standards and tools
Position Requirements
An assertive and creative individual possessing the following background and skills:
Education:
. Four-year degree from a top tier institution, with strong portfolio and program management skills that is preferably PMI certified
Experience:
. 10+ years program and project management work experience, preferably in the insurance or financial services
. Previous experience managing a large global project portfolio and developing and deploying program and project management processes, controls and tools
. Strong executive reporting background and previous experience presenting to and working with Executives
. Must demonstrate strong relationship management, analytical and problem solving skills
. Superb oral and written communication skills
. Proficiency with MS Office software including Project, Access & Visio
Knowledge and Skills:
. Requires a self-directed professional with strong initiative, leadership, team-building, change management, organizational skills, the ability to execute and a keen eye for detail
. Employee should possess strong research, analytical and practical problem solving skills and possess the ability to function at a peak level while managing competing priorities
. Excellent oral and written communication skills
. Ability to develop a high level of trust and to influence business stakeholders through personal impact
. Intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic and commitment to a superior work product
. Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision
. Strong customer orientation with the ability to build sustainable relationships
. Proven ability to lead, motivate and gain commitment from direct reports and staff
